What is the best life lesson or advice you have ever been given?
Have you used it?

Words to live by:

Never conduct business with family.

Be careful of how you make that bed. Remember YOUR the one sleeping in it.

One day while target plinking my old man said:
Remember....words are just like one of these bullets. Once you pull the trigger there is no bringing them back and they can do just as much damage.

Advice on anything, anywhere?

Probably the lists and lists and lists of advice I've had from friends and my dad about social rules. I know so many of them by rote my head might explode.

The most useful have probably been:

Debt is dangerous. Only take on what you are able and willing to pay back.

Obligation is debt.

and, okay this is Heinlein's paraphrased advice to Maureen, but you are an amoral wench and need to create your own code to live by since you don't have social morals.

OH! And the very bestest from a therapist EVER: You are not that important.

:)

An EX once told me "Never settle for second best" so I didn't, and he was shocked when I dumped him.. :hu

"When you feel stuck in a corner, turn around and look at the room."

I should have taken the advice and called off the wedding!

When you are fairly schizophrenic and think people are watching you and recording you and studying you, it's VERY COMFORTING!!!

I read something in the Reader's Digest right before I was married about a woman whose mother told her to never tell her about the fights between her and her new husband because she might be able to forgive him but her mother might not. Or something along those lines. Because of that I have never badmouthed my husband to anyone when I was mad at him.

Do what you love.

You teach people how to treat you.

Never loan anything that you want back.
