After about 6 days in the fridge, Goat Milk becomes a tiny bit "goaty" tasting. So, this week I tried my hand at soap making!!

I made three batches of soap, and this is what I got...

Here are some close ups of some of the finished soaps

I bought most of these molds at Michael's.

These small candy molds came in handy for the little bits of soap from each batch that wouldn't fill a whole bar mold.

I only had one problem. The embossing stamps I bought, had one where the design was not in reverse.

Of course, I didn't notice it until I unmolded the soap!!

I contacted the company that makes the stamps, and they are sending me a replacement. They were very quick to reply. I was impressed!!

I am working now on a label for my soaps, Here is one idea.

It does look impressive. Great job :D

I love the picture for the logo, but that font doesn't work well on a curve. (Sorry...graphic desinger...couldn't help myself :D )

What recipe did you use? (If you dont mind sharing) Im wanting to start making soap, but am a little overwhelmed with the recipe options out there! We have 2 goats that will be producing next spring so I am wanting to get ready with goats milk soap recipes!

Was that your first time making soap? Very impressive--they look nice!
Yep, it was a bit scary... I am not fond of using caustic chemicals.

What typeface would you suggest? I am open to suggestions.

I did a lot of reading on the web.... and found two places that gave good instructions.

I used this recipe.

http://www.marthastewart.com/article/making-goat-soap

And used the process given on this website.

http://www.kountrylife.com/content/how144.htm

I liked using a small batch recipe. It was easier to fill the small molds before the soap began to set up.

How about this typeface?

I liked the graphic... but my husband is a stickler on Copyrights. I got the Heidi and goat graphic off the web. I think I will have my friend Robin take a photo of me with the goats, or maybe we can get a good goat photo to go on the label.
