What to do with used mylar bags

Free, I didn't know about your buckets of grain - was that in your journal? Great score! I haven't used mylar bags myself; like you, I rotate what I have, and don't plan on *many year's* storage. But I have read that the bags will seal with a hot iron - fold over the top, and press them on a flat board (with a cloth between). If you don't need/want them for dry food storage then freezer storage, with tape (as already mentioned) might be a way to get more use from them. Or wrap your birthday and Christmas presents in them :P. Or cut them into strips and hang them in the fruit trees to keep away the birds.

Are they the same type of material as mylar emergency blankets? I've used the blankets to line curtains (reflects the sun away on hot days, and keeps the heat in on cold days). They are good for covering outside plants, too, when there is danger of frost. They also make cool gift wrap, and probably all kinds of art projects.
