same. Bad news is it's DH's birthday and I have NO IDEA what I could make. I have ice cream in the freezer and homemade praline syrup for dessert.

nothing wrong with ice-cream for dinner.

I decided that putting on a nice[r] shirt and makeup was easier than cooking and dragged him out to a local restaurant.

We’re studying Ukraine so we’re making borscht and homemade bread for dinner… I may be the only one who eats it… I love beets!

I've never had borscht...hope it's delicious!

It’s not bad, it’s not great either. I likely won’t make it again unless it’s for a specific reason, it’s good poverty food though, can make with a few cheap ingredients. DH was not a fan. And he never complains about my cooking 🤣

i've had it a few times and it was good for me. i love beets and about anything else too so what not to love? the version i had was beets, cabbage, onions, carrots and ham chunks. no garlic. everything was shredded and cooked fairly quickly then the ham was put in more towards the end so it didn't lose all the flavor into the soup. topped with sour scream.

Have cannelli beans soaking since yesterday and going to make apple bean bake today, after pressure cooking the beans. Going to be good! Leftover thawed veggie soup too.

today's dinner was a quick one that was a combination of the last few sweet and sour meatballs (which we've always called donkey meat balls and no i don't know where the name came from and perhaps don't really want to know ) and the last of the pasta salad. pretty much it tasted like a strange form of goulash, yes it was good to me too.

A big ol' pot of collard greens with a ham hock and some ham. Cornbread will be mandatory.
