So what actually grows wild on your Homestead that you actually use ?
Here at our place we have the following:
Morrell Mushrooms, Sand Plumbs , Persimmons, Black Berries , Acorns , Yarrow , Dandelions , Stinging Nettles , Spruce tips ( to make beer) , Y'all get the Idea , Share some stories .

Blackberries, black raspberries
Dandelion (leaf)

I know some things here that are supposedly edible but I dont know how to use them.

Stinging nettle
Burdock
Yarrow
Mullein
Plantain


I tried making acorn flour once - terrible failure, and so much work!

Not much...but we do have plantain, chickweed,, curly dock and a few others whose names have escaped me now.

To the above listed items I will add . Greenbrier,wild black cherry , creeping Charlie , water cress, purslane, mountain mint , wild ginger , wild elderberry, staghorn and winged sumac , wild blueberries , wild muscadine, beach nuts , lambs quarters, I don't normally eat them but cleavers are good also.

I am sure there's more that I eat every once in a great while that I'm not thinking about .

How do you use creeping charlie? I have plenty of it!

Thanks for jogging my ageing memory! Purslane is what I couldn't remember. Also forgot to add that there are plenty of blackberries and dewberries around. At least everywhere except my pasture because the goats eat the heck out of them! We also have a few wild persimmon trees around.

As for creeping Charlie we use It as a salad green . It is in the mint family.

I have dollar weed too. Never thought that it might be useful - but turns out it is edible. Maybe not edible in my house - but looks like it won't kill ya, lol!

Plantain (narrow and broad leaf), stinging nettle, cattail, alder, pacific willow (and a few others), cottonwood, dandelion, brackenfern, staghorn lichen, pacific crabapple, blackberry (Himalayan, cut leave, and trailing), salal, service berry, thimbleberry, comfrey, hawthorn.

Oregon grapes are native here but we didn't have any. I got some starts going and those will be planted out next spring. I had to get the starts for the thimbleberry from down the RR tracks just a bit. Birds seeded the salal from across the road.

Willow gets used for garden stakes after I make sure it's fully dry or for occasional weaving. I have large enough Alder now that I can start peeling some and turn it into charcoal or use it for smoking.
