I'm trying something new this year and growing runner beans on the run for shade. The chickens can eat and get shaded! Its a nice concenpt, we will see how it holds up in reality.

...The land is drying out fast, wild fire is everywhere.
My sister lives in Roswell NM ,, last week they had Red Flag warnings,, Texas is in very bad shape.

we've had rain quite often this past spring and we had Red Flag warning day yesterday. because of high winds.

so glad to see that NM and CO did get some rains this past week - my sister and her clan live out in NM and CO so for many years i've been keeping a watch on the water situation out there and then i got hooked on learning about all the water projects and the saline lakes and ... i've always enjoyed playing in streams and doing water projects of my own so it fits something in my brain and makes it happy. plus i get to learn about things like groundwater and the Colorado River Delta and ...

We live up the hill from a large river, have a well, and live over a HUGE Aquafer, so I feel very fortunate to have such fresh water!

I'm sorry for you, but glad reading these that we live in a very wet low fire area. I dont think I have ever seen a wildfire more than about 15sq ft (ditch fire). Even when we have red flag days, its not very likely because "dry" for us is still wet, and we have alotnof rivers/streams.
