We'll I done did it now... My wife has adopted the chickens. Her dog, baby bear, thinks he's momma hen. He goes up to the tub and the chicks go crazy. My wife jumps up says to her Dog "Hey, those are my babies!" Then she goes over to the tub and talks all sweet to them and they simmer down. Guess who's feeding and watering them? Me.

They are going out of the tub this weekend into the barn tack room (converted into a coop).

My wife's babies got deluxe accommodations 8'x16' tack room converted into a coup.IMG_20210320_172938802.jpg

I can't seem to free up this tack room in the barn long enough to move it out of the barn. First CCX, then Turkey Tom, now wife's babies. I do know one thing... All that hay deep bedding and lime I put in there is garden gold.

What kind of chicken has feathers that stick up on top of their head? My Grand daughter named them Spike. Did I get some quail / chicken cross or something?

Polish or maybe legbar if from feedstore. Could also be a Colorpack. Polish or Colorpack are most likely. Colorpack are an easter egger type based off legbar crosses. I'm betting Colorpack.

My Spitz have feathers on their heads.

I think I saw one hatchery carried golden Spangled spitz... but that doesn't look like golden spangled... do I see barring?

Pulled from the net: There are 12 common chicken breeds with crests. Standard crested chickens are: Polish, Sultan, Appenzeller Spitzhauben, Houdan, Crevecoeur, and Brabanter. Crested bantams are: Burmese, Polish, Bearded, Houdan, Silkie and Brabanter.

I think islandic is also a crested breed.

I'm only betting on Colorpack because they have been very popular at feed stores last year and this year.

Any idea where the chicks are sourced from?
