YUCK! I couldn't stomp one either...feeling them crunch under my feet would probably make me barf. I call Gracie - she's relentless and will dig one out of anywhere if possible. Love that dog - better mouser than any cat!
I'm a trapper too. Years ago I cornered a mouse in our house. It was hiding and and its tail was sticking out, so I grabbed it and pulled... Next thing I knew I was sitting with the tail in my hand and the mouse was running around, screaming  Actually we both screamed. Anyway, I decided trapping is a better option after that!

I would love to have an outdoor kitty, and for that matter, an indoor/outdoor kitty. But, my dog would not play well, and I don't have a good place for an outdoor kitty. An outdoor kitty wouldn't last a month here anyways b/c of the high predator load: coyotes, fox, coons, fishers, mountain lions (though our dept of wild life says they don't exist in Maine)... owls....

We're having a heat wave. Triple digits! It is now 16.9. Supposed to get into 40's tomorrow, with rain. Will turn the run and walk ways into a skating rink. Goal today: snow blow a path from where I store feed to the coop, about 100'. It would be heavenly to be able to pull my sled laden with feed and water to the coop from that overhead door, instead of carrying it up what is essentially a full flight of steps from the basement.

Heavy snow predicted here over the weekend. Prediction models flipping back and forth just 12 hours to go.

Anyone in the lower Ohio Valley get any snow yet?

My southern wife is excited about her first "real snowstorm" :D

Nothing here yet, they are guessing thunderstorms tomorrow for us.

You all stay safe and warm over there!

@FarmerJamie this southern (hemisphere) girl was just as exited about her first snowstorm last year! :)

What are they predicting for you? We're seeing 12-18" and some places calling for up to 2'. They can't decide!

Forecast varies between max of of 9 to 15 inches.
We are right on the line of demarcation.

Later in the weekend, high winds and sub zero windchills are in the forecast
