I would! We ate honey we put up more than 35 years ago...it was still beautiful and delicious. I guess it depends on what kind of food it is....if it is acidic, it may just be alright. Anything else, you will more than likely be able to visualize or smell if it is bad.
Because we can! *pun intended* Why light up that cig and pay all that money first to purchase it and then all the medical problems from smoking it? Because you are willing to risk the fact that it just won't happen to you.
If it still has a good seal, I'd eat it. If it was pressure canned, I'd go longer, as long as it still has a good seal.
Problem around here is, NOTHING ever lasts that long!!
