lol, some of the stuff i find super easy...and other stuff just goes over my head, i have a super hard time with the chinchilla (c locust) genes,

but to keep it super easy pair a red rabbit with a tri-color and a broken red rabbit with a harlequin to get your calicos (tri-colors)
add in the chinchilla gene to get magpies (the harlequin/tricolors without the orange) but im not quite at that point yet, trying to work with my tri rex's first lol.

should be doing stuff today, but not feeling it...

moving the cages into the barn this week so realy need to figure out the game plan...
i realy want to sell some buns to make this easier and make a little room (and expand my best sellers later) but no bites on the adds :/
ive got 2 baby angora going home next weekend though so that's good.
but ive got 2 more that need to go from that litter, 2 young English lop boys that need to go, and id like to send 3-4 adult angora and my 2 ault e-lops to new homes, mabe even 1 of my calixnz girls...

right now the biggest issue is, in order to fit everyone in ill have to stack...my cages don't have trays...so ive got to figure out the easiest cheapest way to stop poop and urine falling into the lower cages.
im going to have to stack my rex and angora bank and probably the bosy cages ontop, the boys cages have trays so that's easy...the rex and angora cages don't however.
then i also have my 30x30's with my lops and meaty girls in that also don't have trays and will also have to be stacked. so ime to scour home depot.
thinking under bed boxes would work on the floor for poop collection, but not sure about upper levels...thinking mabe fashion some kind of sloping system...gah!

so i think i figured out what ill use, just not sure how to support/attatch things now...
im going to use the cheap corrugated roof panels, there not quite long enough so ill have them slowed form 1 end down to the other and into an underbed box at one end...i can then just slid out the box as it fills up and just dump it into the wheelbarrow and take it all out...
i think itll be cheaper than trying to figure out individual trays
just gotta figure out attatchmet, im thinking small hooks ect...we'll see...

Can you get something more flat? I had stacked cages so did a fair bit of research on lower maintenance than trays. All the reviews I read of similar arrangements said the angled piece had to be scraped frequently as it doesnt roll off as cleanly as we would like.

Individual trays are really hard to clean and maintain, especially in winter!

I was going to suggest the metal roof shingle things but you beat me to it. if you can get it set up so that a flat styled broom/brush can slide in between the cage and the tile that could make clean up easier.

yeah I was worrying about getting the slope right to get the best slip and slide going...
mabe the DPI hardwood wall paneling might work better, they have a smooth high gloss white that could work nicely...
the oher option with that would be to run it sloped from high in back to low in fron and run a piece of gutter along the front and slow that down into buckets at the ends, buckets would be easier to dump than under bed boxes. and the cost of 10ft vinyl gutter plus a bucket would still be less than an under bed box.
with the guttering I could just use a feed scoop for anything that gets stuck and run a hose on it once in a while...

I can't remember where I saw it but there was someone who had done a similar set up with the roofing tile and tilted it like that but put a gutter in the front so that the stuff would roll into the gutter then to both ends and into pipes that lead to buckets.

well after realy talking it through with mum and explaining my concerns about the whole sticking them in the stall thing weve decided to evict dads mower instead.
were going to keep the stall empty, move the old wine barrels that are being stored in there and some shelving and stuff and figure out the layout and put the rabbits along that wall, this leaves the stall open for babies in the spring...which right now is my concern...if the rabbits go in the stall, where do kids go?!

so the rabbits will go there, then one of the covers currently over the rabbitry will get moved to a spot next to the shed where the gats form the back to the front are, the mower will go under there...ill probably move my quail cages (currently empty) under there too up against the shed wall.
plenty of space for the mower, and we can wrap it in a tarp as a backup too if needed.

the other im thinking of leaving where it is and turning into a greenhouse/cold frame. I can replace the side and end tarps with heavy duty clear contractor plastic for fairly cheap and that area is going to be the start of the vegetable patch anyway...
and at 10x20 that's a good sized starting house for next years garden.

so that's the plan to work on this weekend...
that and getting the hay sorted.
need to figure the math.
snow should be gone and green should come back right around the end of march so I need a good 5 months worth of hay to see me through...
the boys eat a flake a day, the girls 2 flakes a day, current bunnies average a a flake a day (2 flakes does everyone and lasts about 2 days) and the pigs will probably go through 1/2 a flake a day. so im estimating 3 bales a week to see me through with a little buffer, so 60 bales of hay
then a bale of straw per month per house to bed down, that's 15 bales...

need to get that sorted.

and now the colder weahers coming im thinking of all the things I want to do to my room to make it more livable as im here for the long run at this point.
I have the paint but I need more storage.

Winter prep is always difficult for me. I thought we would get it all figured out the first year. Nope, here we sit doing the same things this year! Next year we'll have it all figured out, I'm sure of it!
