@lcertuche I don't know about that.. Anything that keeps moisture and doesn't all it to dry out will grow mold. I do know black mold begins to grow in 3 days. If the area dries out just a little before, days the count begins all over again upon wetness returning.

I am battling black mold in my house, especially the bathroom, especially during the colder months. Got some mold spray and that took care of some of it, but it just comes back… I know it's VERY bad to have in your house, but I'm at my wit's end with the stuff.

Sorry to interrupt the reunion

Funny!

but an idea for your dampness/mold problems. Maybe perlite or vermiculite on top along with the fan would probably cure any problems. I know some people don't believe it is environmentally friendly but if I toss the soil out in the garden later in the year I don't feel to guilty about using them.

Good idea as well as the one about mulching with peat. The top is starting to dry out from the edges, and where it is starting to dry out, the mold is gone. Going to give it a couple of more days before I intercede more...if I have to.

Oh my @sumi That is not good. Here in the US the best thing to do is get a company that removes mold from houses to do it. First you have to find how it is getting there. I know they remove wall coverings and take them away and treat the mold with chemicals that kill it...

To live in a house with it is very bad, they say.....

I know it is. I am on the lookout for a better house. Hoping to move early in the new year, if all goes well. This house is cold and very damp/wet, especially the bathroom, where the biggest mold issue is.

Here in the US or at least in Pa and NJ if someone is getting a bank loan, the bank will require a mold test. If it comes back positive the seller must fix it and if that sale falls through they must document it on the next sale.
