Yum, Jamie!

I took the holiday very seriously and fixed a leg of lamb. A bit more than a week ago I found a good deal on a half leg of lamb from the store and -----while it was good ----today's whole leg of lamb was home-grown and OMG so delicious!

I started it yesterday by pouring a half-bottle of red wine into a 2 gallon Ziploc, chopped some garlic into it and added the whole leg of lamb. Today I took it out of the fridge, rinsed it a little, dried it off and covered it in a coating of finely chopped rosemary, garlic and olive oil for at least an hour before I put it in the oven.

I can't even begin to tell you how delicious this was! I gotta find me some more lamb to raise. Nothing beats home-grown!

Been gone a few days, but making a quick pizza tonight. Plus made myself a chocolate pudding and working on a new bread recipe...and cleaning cast iron if that counts lol

Spent the afternoon at the emergency room again (turns out his wrist is broken, which was why it wasn't getting better like everything else) so I think it's just going to be a green salad with a jar of home canned diced chicken dumped on top and blue cheese vinaigrette dressing. It was nice spending 4 hours in an air conditioned room though...

Tonight is crock pot baked beans and potato salad with farmer's market potatoes since ours aren't ready yet. Last night was home made lasagne with home ground whole-wheat home made noodles, home canned ground bison, home canned tomatoes, and home grown onions/herbs. Night before was BBQ chicken (Hutterite colony raised chicken from the farmer's market) with home grown salad.

Fixing some fresh steaks tonight from our grass fed beef. Then having baked potatoes, and baked summer squash from the garden!

We ate leftovers today. I spent the day cleaning our cast iron cookware, and worked on making jerky.
