We had a week of spring

So this week it's summer, last week was spring and 2 weeks ago it was.winter. I was utterly amazed. I took my wife to Walmart this evening and I sat oit in the parking lot in the veggie hauler.

She was in there for a good 1/2 hour. I had the windows down it was hot. Then started to get heache so i started up the truck to.turn on the air conditioning. I looked up at my review mirror and it read 113 degrees. I'm like no wonder I'm sweating and have a headache. I don't live in arizona I live in southern IL. Good God all that blacktop in the huge parking lot makes for crazy heat with the sun beating down on it. How do city people stand all that blacktop?

I was so glad to get out of the city and back to the county where there is grass and trees and SHADE. I told my wife the older I get, the more I'm turning into a sun hater. FAT OLD SUN.

I read where some cities are considering painting the roads white so they won't absorb so much heat. Sounds good on the surface, but I wonder how many accidents will happen because the glare from that white pavement cuts down on visibility... I'm also thinking I would get a headache from it too.

Yep! Doesn't take much to raise the temperature! Little town here is population 2,000 and not much for parking lots. Still enough to raise the temperature 3 - 5 degrees compared to a mile away.

Huh. What if global warming is less about emissions and more about roads and parking lots?

We're having the same weather, CC. It will be up to and past 100* today and we had the wood stove going two weeks ago. We had one week of perfect spring weather and now we are experiencing late July/Aug. temps and humidity.

I too get much more weary of the heat as I age...it just sucks the life out of me and removes my will to do anything. That's why when folks were all complaining of the extended winter conditions and how cold it got this winter, I'm smiling like a Chessie cat....I can always put on more clothes and stoke up the fire, but when it gets hot it leaves very little options for comfort. Particularly if one wants to work outdoors.

Today, I'm indoors just WISHING to be out there working in the garden.

We worked outside in the garden yesterday and today. By 1:30 we were done, came in, took showers and yesterday, we both took a nap. It is hitting 90 degrees and we are drained by the heat.

When I lived in S.A. our summer temperatures often hit 120F plus. Evenings and nights in the village nearby wasn't much cooler. We noticed the difference when we went into the village from our small farm nearby. Everything just soaks up that horrible heat!

So far our temperatures here have been kind. 70's high on our "hottest" days. And I find that hot. I've become Irish LOL

We got a quick thunderstorm that blew out the heat and humidity and dropped temps by 20* in a flash. Now I'm out getting some things done, some things planted, etc. Feels GREAT!!!

I was thinking the same... Crazy we had the furnace running two weeks ago, now it's AC. I mean boom just like that... We only had one free week, when you can open up the windows and feel comfortable in the house. We usually get several free weeks in the spring but not this year. It went straight from winter to summer in a flash. I'm wondering if I didn't have one of those Senior Moments and lost track of several weeks -:lol

Grrr.. 4 alternators bracket out of 3/8" or ~ 9.5mm thick aluminum plate. I think I finally got a good fit.
