Pressure canning dry beans. (Video)

CHILI BEANS BY THE QUART
This is good to do if you are canning something like meat and end up with less than a full canner load.

In each quart jar, place:

1 cup dry red kidney beans
2 slices jalapeno
1-2 garlic cloves
1 handful chopped onion
1 handful red bell pepper
½ tsp salt
1 rounded tsp paprika
A dash of liquid smoke
1 rounded tsp cumin
1 rounded tbsp chili powder
½ tsp cayenne
¼ cup tomato sauce
Fill with hot water leaving 1” headspace

Stir to ensure there are no air bubbles

Process quarts for 90 minutes at 15 pounds pressure for my altitude (4200’).

Will this recipe work with dry pinto beans?

Heres how we do it. And let me tell ya they are gooood!
My internet won't play a video that long. Can you post your instructions? I have a bucket of pinto beans that are several years old, maybe canning them would bring them back to life. LOL

1/2 cup dry pinto beans (rounded) per pint
1/2 tsp salt
Top off with boiling water
1 inch head space
Process 75 mins at 10lbs

They are really good. Like slow cooked all day good.
We had some tonight with tacos. Wife brought them to a boil and smashed with potato smasher. Refried beans!

Don't get me wrong here I like pinto beans. My mom used to make a pot of pinto beans with cornbread often, it was lip snaking delicious.

As a matter of fact when I was young and stupid(er), one nite after eating a big ole plate of my mom's pinto beans and cornbread, I went out drinking with a few of my friends. Let's just say 100 proof vodka, pinto beans and cornbread is just plain nasty disgusting coming back up and we'll leave it at that.

All that praying to the porcelain god, turned me off on pinto beans and corn bread. That was a good 40 years ago and I ain't had any since. Refried pintos yes but pinto beans and corn bread NO.

Still an awesome real life video though.

Poor @CrealCritter !

My recipe says kidney beans, but I've also made it with black beans and it came out fine. I bet pinto beans would work too. I don't cook much with pintos, because DH and DS don't care for them. I'm not sure how successful it would be to use something like navy beans, but it would be worth trying. The beauty of this recipe is that if you find you don't care for it or whatever, you're only out the one quart-sized recipe.
