Here's a status update for all who aren't members of Backyard Chickens;
My boyfriend ended our relationship on Monday 5/27 (Memorial Day) due to falling out of love with me so either at the end of this month or the beginning of July I'm going back to NY.
I packed the majority of my stuff yesterday and it hurt, broke my heart even more.
I think it was due to his sister having her influence over him and his life.

I'm sorry to hear of your broken heart - best of luck to you.
I don't have any words that will make it better... but that just sucks.
:hugs

What really sucks is he wasn't even thinking of ending the relationship until his sister came for a visit and because she doesn't like me (I grew up poor and didn't have such nice things unlike them who grew up with money and had nice things) he gave into her and told me "goodbye "

If he let her talk him into letting you go, then he ain't worth squat. He may regret his decision at some point and resent her for meddling in his life, but right now - he said goodbye and it is his loss.

I too grew up without all the nice things that my friends had. But I had a wonderful childhood full of homemade love. Blanket forts, bike riding,rollerskating and painting pictures in the basement on hot summer days... things that my friends thought were so weird and wonderful whenever they came to visit. And so many good memories that hold me strong during tough times as an adult.

You will meet someone who can truly appreciate the wonderful person that you are. Until then, take care of you and remember that it reflects badly on him and not you. You are hurting now, and eventually that hurt will die away and become less. I still hurt when I think of my first love, who left me for someone else almost 30 years ago - and that little bit of hurt will always be there, but it makes me appreciate the man I married and love so much more and completely than my 1st love ever could have.

Thank you wyoDreamer for those words of encouragement. Yeah, it does hurt right now and I know it's going to take some time before I get over it the worst part is I had others telling me not to listen to what he said but I told them all he's not like that at all boy was I wrong.
In a way I'm glad he's setting me free but in a way I'm I wish he wasn't

Love makes us see what we want to see. You are not a fool, but you were looking for the best out of him. You have now seen the real him and you deserve to be treated better.

I think all of us have been where you are now; I don't think you can reach adulthood without experiencing the heartbreak of failed love. I believe when this happens, it means someone better is waiting for you- you just have to be open to the opportunity.

I'm sorry to hear you're hurting now and your life is in upheaval, but I trust that it's worth it and you'll end up in a much better place. :hugs

All excellent comments. The pain you are feeling now will eventually give way to a huge sense of gratitude. Eventually, you will realize that you were spared a whole lot of hurt by having him leave when he did, instead of hanging around to inflict more pain in the future. A man who is not committed for the long haul is not worth sharing your life with.
