You really do have an expanded "stuffed" jalapeno...:lol: I believe I'd like the fried ones better, with all the added stuff. That has me thinking I'd like some darned hush puppies. :idunno
 
I thought about hush puppies when I was frying them. I rarely ever fry anything - but we had more today. The recipe, with the addition of extra cream cheese and shrimp, makes a LOT!

Game cam is out in the tree - aimed at the barn door. Hope DH has it set up right. He's pretty good at those kind of things - he's my own personal Geek, lol! It's going to be hard to wait until morning to see if it's set right and if it captures any images. And, it leaves everything unprotected another night. Maybe I should have went ahead and set the live trap while I was out there...
 
I have a possum (or 2?) that frequents my porch....So far, not messing with chickens. But when I went to set live traps, found they needed some oiling and such. Well, no time to do so left all porch lights on. Not foolproof but, they don't like the lights. Helps. Will get traps working in next day or so. TIME, I have no TIME :he Always rushing to -- you name it! Need to retire.

I have more than 4 months (lucky you!). Looking at 6-8. :caf

That's entirely possible....I think I stopped just short of the vomitorium, lol!

Four months and 6 days if I get out when I hope to. But not nearly that many actual work days. YaY!

Me? It's a matter of saying … I quit! But, I do have to be sure that all financials can support me :D OK -- also my wants. Tractor paid off first. Plus I want a couple pieces of equipment to be paid with work $$ before I stop. At my age, once I quit, the chances of getting more employment will be nil. There is the hesitation. Who wants to hire a mid 70s model?? :lol:

I'm easing into it. Will slow down assignments, then actually stop one job -- eventually the 2nd one. Food demos being 2nd. They're kinda fun, no stress & they love oldies. :) Also, I have no partner here, so ONLY me for income.
 
Whew...barely 8am and I'm already tired, lol.

Heard from my friend last night that they'll be hay-ing her field this week. So, I'm in line for three more large rounds - free of charge just because she likes me! This morning the plan was to pull the trailer out of the pasture so I can be ready when she tells me the hay is ready. Annnnnd, wouldn't ya know it I totally remember why I parked the trailer OUTside the pasture for so long. Stupid "something" ate the wires that go the lights. ARGH!!!!! Now it has to be re-wired AGAIN! Doubt that'll get done before I need to go pick up the hay though.

Tied the dogs up so I could get through the gate without them running out and in 2 seconds Cowboy bit through the nylon leash. ARGH!! So, I change out his tie rope and fuss at him and this time he just lays there all mopey. Got on the tractor and lined up the hitch that's on the bucket and got the tractor pulled out. Now all I have to do is back the truck up to it and pull out - lightless.

Guess I'll have to risk getting a ticket - but if I take the back roads and go during daylight (duh) I should be ok. Timing might be an issue though because she thinks it'll be ready to go on Saturday and I have to work all day Saturday. Might take the trailer over there so they can load it and then go pick it up Sunday. The things we do for our critters.

I did all that and fed this morning and still got to work on time. Tired, but on time!

DH is getting ready to schedule the other wrist surgery. He said last night that the hand/wrist that's already been corrected is now healed enough that it's stronger than the other so that sounds like it's time. That way he can get it done and be alllll healed up by the time I retire and maybe we can get some things done. Yay!
 
Got the trailer dropped off at my friends house. Yay for that. Not sure when it'll be ready to pick up - but probably tomorrow when I have to work.

Have to work tomorrow. It wasn't planned, but a last minute change means I'll be chaperoning 30 kids on a behind the scenes tour of an Aquarium restaurant. I'm actually kinda looking forward to it. Not so much looking forward to needing to be at work before 7am. Ugh. But, we've chartered a bus so as soon as I get the kiddos loaded up I can chill for the ride.

One of the kids in our program is about to be my new project, lol. His family is poor...his mom is a single mom who works for our program during the summer. In fact, she's chaperoning with me tomorrow. She was the lady I was able to help out this summer with a love offering. But they're still in need.

Her son is about to become my new farm helper. He needs real work and real pay. I pay my beginner farm help 10.00 an hour. If they stay with me awhile I give them merit raises. I need some new fences and a few other projects. He's a strong kid - but he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. He will need to get over that.

If it works out he can earn some money from me and maybe even a life lesson or two. I've employed kids from our program before. I tell them that I expect them to treat this like a real job and to treat me like a real employer. I expect respect, hard work and humility. In return, they get a decent wage and fair employment. I work beside them and don't ask for more than I would do. In this kind of heat we work 45 minutes and take a water/rest break for 15 minutes each hour. They get paid for the entire hour. I feed them lunch...all they can eat, lol. It might just be sandwiches - but if they want 4 they can eat 4, lol. It'll be a couple weeks before I can start him...need to get some supplies. I'm looking forward to it.
