My Daddy was WW2 navy 8 year veteran and he used it.

Would y’all believe I went in this morning to honor my commitment and somebody else had been called in to work my shift? My schedule had not changed, no text, call or notification of any sort. I was angry, self terminated on the spot and walked out.

This is the case of: management getting you out of there ASAP to protect their butt from their concerns about a possible whistle blower incidence. IMO, count your blessing. Also so very interesting: Why would they be so very short staffed that they would deny your lunch break, yet... they have someone in the wings who can step right in????? Good riddance. Send a PM: I'm interested to know what corporate comapany name was providing staff for this building, and what was their local/national customer satisfaction response?

They may not be short of staff, they just don't like the idea of someone being paid "to do nothing." DH ran into this mentality when he was a bus mechanic. He never got a lunch because there was always something that HAD to be done before his shift was done, so they could make pull-out in the morning. He resorted to scarfing down a can of sardines while in the bathroom, or he would have never gotten anything to eat. They actually were very short handed, so much so that he regularly was told he couldn't have vacation because they didn't have enough staff to cover his absence, but this was intentional... the General Manager didn't believe in having any more maintenance crew than the bare minimum.
The person that got called in may have not even gotten a full 8 hours off from their last shift before being pulled in to do your shift.

My time line was going to be 6 months, but I don't think I can take it that long. That is a disorganized place, short staffed, leave 1 person on shift to do the work of 3. I've even been told that I can't have a lunch break, that I get automatically clocked out for, because I need to finish my work. I got a feeling that i'll tell them to shove it in the not too distant future. I had some crappy jobs before, this one ranks down towards the bottom with the worst of them.

I've drug up on a many of them. always sure to tell em how I feel while I'm draggin my tools to the truck! let it rip

At a girl, don't let anyone take advantage of you. But I already know you won't :)

Yep, I can believe it and I agree that they were trying to cover their a$$ and get you out of there.
There are places all over, like Wal-mart, Krogers, other stores, looking to hire because they are needing help for things like stocking and cleaning and sanitizing stores right now. Go find something else like that for a few weeks or until this C-virus dies down. Most also are wanting help during their closed store hours.... these jobs will be short in duration. and most will not be 12 hour back breaking ones like you just got out of.
