Hamster was caught, escaped again and not yet caught. We know where he is (confined under the clothes dryer again) but he has figured out how to get bait out of the live trap without setting it off.

Roofers are almost done with both buildings. They will put metal siding on one end of the barn too. Will be great to have done - otherwise we'd be renting a scissor lift to have it painted every few years.

DH built shelves in the barn! There's a little room above the milkhouse that was intended for garden storage, but it was an overflowing useless jumble. DH built shelves and we organized all the pots, trays, hose, buckets, and misc. items. It's so.... functional! 😍

I weeded for 5-1/2 hours yesterday and covered almost 6,000 sq ft. That's real progress toward eradicating the perennial weeds. I can plant the earliest crops like peas any day now. I have about 2 weeks to get all the perennial weeds out before everything else gets planted.

I hope you don't have the experience with the hamster that my mom had when I was young. We had a couple of little squirrels that she had rescued and, they escaped. She found them when she was getting ready for bed... they were clinging to the inside of her pajama bottoms. The scream when she felt something warm and furry against her thigh! I still remember it.

Hamster has been caught (again)! DH stuck a walnut half to the trap's sensor part with peanut butter. That hamster had been eating out of the trap without setting it off for days. :gig We are going to have to build some new habitat for him. Clearly he is bored and unsatisfied.

DS4 is 5 now! I injured my hand/arm the day before so no cake for him. We went to DQ to get his favorite treat - a strawberry sundae - and I had ordered a LEGO set for him awhile back so that was a good birthday present.

Time to plant peas. I'm hoping my hands hold out long enough to do it this afternoon. Until then, I am trying to get laundry done, get library books ready to return (to 2 different libraries), fill 2 bags of donations.

Weeds are starting to get ahead of me now. I need DH to rototill around the perimeter again.

Glad ya caught the little bugger, lol. Yep- sounds like he needs some "enrichment activities" to keep him occupied, lol. The garden never rests...and weeds are never ending. I feel your pain!

Hope your hand/arm gets better! Happy birthday to DS!

They do get bored. I had a friend in high school that had a mouse in a cage. He would run for hours on his little exercise wheel until finally he got bored. He started a new thing where he would run really fast and then grip the the wheel hard and let the momentum carry him all the way around a couple of times. The day they found him hanging upside down from the top of the cage and reaching out to spin the wheel with one foot, they ended up letting him go free. He would run around the house (not something I would do, but....) but still come back to his cage to eat, drink, and sleep. He finally died a couple of years later, they think it was a spider bite that got infected.

DS5 keeps flipping the wheels over so hamster can't run. Hamster bit him today! Well deserved, in my opinion! I think it's time to take hamster cage out of DS5's bedroom for a while.

I weeded a little bit today, planted one row of peas. DH and I picked up 5 gallons of barn paint (on sale, of course) and we had ice cream desserts instead of supper. (DS5 didn't have a very good evening, no surprise there.)

My arm is somewhat better today. I did a lot of intervention and it seems to be working.

I did 5 loads of laundry. In a big pile on my living room floor. :gig

Chicks look good! Big. I moved them from cardboard box to a large wire rabbit cage. Problem is it's so big I can't quite catch them. I don't want wild chickens, but IDK how to solve the cage size problem with what I have. 😕

Preemie lambs have lost some "cover" so I fed them milk replacer tonight and will continue for a week or so. The normal bottle lamb is weaned and looks great!

I came across a service dog prospect puppy (6 months old), exchanged some emails and decided to pass. It's a mastiff mix and they're notorious for bad hips. Sounded like a really nice puppy, but too much risk for me right now. (and too much money for the risk). I was thinking of @baymule and Sentry. 😔

You probably saved yourself a lot of heart ache. :love It is hard watching him hop along, trying to keep up with the other dogs. His head and chest are big and wide, showing the dog he could have been, but his hindquarters are small, his operated on leg is atrophied. No, you don't want that. You don't want that for your dog, you don't want that for your family. I look at his puppy pictures, so full of promise, but domed from birth. That said, we are glad that Sentry is ours. We will give him a good life for as long as it lasts.

I've been giving DH updates on Sentry. So sad, but Sentry is so lucky to have you! 🥰

I did a 24 hour dry fast, ending today. I'm on an... IDK exactly, I think it's 18 hour water-only fast now. And then going for 30 hour dry fast after that. I'm super lazy about fasting. I know it's possible to push through discomfort but I usually cave at the first twinge of hunger. I have an awful reaction to a 34 hour fast last year. I probably did something wrong, but IDK, I get very cautious after 24 hours.

I shopped online for clothes. Almost bought some gym shorts on aliexpress, but I just know they won't fit me right. Nothing fits me right. So I pulled out a legging pattern and drafted a short pattern to my measurements. Made one out of cheap fabric to test the fit. Then made 2 pairs of shorts. I need to buy thread and dig out my coverstitch machine to hem them, but otherwise are done. 😁 Now that I have the hardest part of the legging pattern fitted, I might sew myself some leggings tomorrow - they were on my shopping list too!

DS5 has been taking my soft fleecy pillowcases off my pillows and using them for a sleeping bag while he watches TV. So I pulled out some cute monster print fabric of the same texture that I just knew I had to get for him but didn't know what to make with it. I sewed him a sleep sack with it and got my pillowcase back. :gig
