Sorry that you wound up buying the new freezer and that the old one was fixable. BUT.... this will give you more flexibility to buy chicken on sale for the dogs' food and not have to juggle getting stuff out to can to be able to put stuff in. And believe me, it will be nice to have that extra space. If you do not keep them all full, then you will have the ability to condense if something does go wrong with another one. But if you are like me, you will start to fill it up because while prices are not cheap now, they are going to continue to go higher..... and you might consider raising another beef sooner... and with waiting so long for kill dates, it is better to have something ready to go rather than not... plus really, with the DD family and 3 growing girls, a half a beef won't last as long as you think....

Glad that Robert could fix it. Don't have any solutions for the rats... would have thought with the dogs in such close proximity, that they would not have been around there....

I have Tom Cat up in the portable building but the mice/rats barely touch it. What really works is Just One Bite and I’m out.

@farmerjan you are right, extra space will sure come in handy. Was going to split a pig with DD and family, due to freezer space, them moving at the time pigs go to slaughter and just generally bad timing, I sold half of that pig. So we will split half of a half. LOL But the good news is we should knock a $$$ home run on pigs this year. 1 full hog is sold, 3 halves are sold, our measly half will be free and we will make money on hogs this year.

I lost my entire pole bean crop (aside from a few handfuls, and possibly a few more to come from the remaining plants that have not been chewed off at ground level. I caught one huge mouse there, and no further trap activity since then.

We have one Spirit and one God right.
Amen to that, He is talking to you. I think of it like this, God is not bound by time (God is not bound by His own creation) and so when you read words penned thousands of years ago the same God who inspired them then is the same God who wakes them up to you now.

Can you just imagine what eternity will be like, when we are not encumbered by time or location. No physical limitations! I can't wait to meet some of the wonderful sisters (and brother) that I know through this and one other forum.
