Sorry to hear Baymax is not doing so well. My Beau, at only 15 months old is having major health issues. Not sure how that will end.

so glad you figured out what was making your problems worse and yes, trying to find foods that don't have any of those ingredients is pretty tough these days, especially as there are so many soy derivatives that aren't even named soy so you have to know all those names too. we hardly ever bother to go out to eat any more since places get their foods brought in a lot of the time and often they are using those ingredients and other spices that Mom has no tolerance.

Eating out is the most challenging part. I don't mind avoiding restaurants, but navigating holiday dinners cooked by others may be tough. I'm not eager for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanks so much. We're going to take one more major diagnostic step and Beau's future pretty much depends on the outcome of an endoscopy and biopsies. I'm always hopeful, but trying to be realistic also.

oh for sure! i think the simple explanation to anyone would be that you really have problems if the wrong things get in your food and you pretty much would want to bring your own food IMO with as sensitive as a system as you seem to have. we have issues around holiday meals too, but Mom is not quite as sensitive as you are but she still pays for it if someone uses certain spices or ingredients in foods and the problem is that some of them you can't taste or notice right away. sometimes she won't notice until a day or two later and then she has to pay for it for a week or two until her body heals up again.

I have a mouse infestation in my basement. DH and I found their obvious food sources and did a big clean-up. It took most of the last week. DH has been setting traps. I hope we can get this taken care of before more damage is done.

We have a 2-story tall corn crib on the farm we have never used except DH put a hunting stand in an upper corner. It is beginning to deteriorate, so DH put a new roof on it. He built a second-floor floor. He is working on putting metal siding on it to convert it to a storage shed. Sounds like the prep is done, waiting for the siding to arrive now.

I'm just trying to keep my head above water here. I have been working from home writing textbook chapters. I was planning on my kids being in school when I signed the contract. Now I'm homeschooling DS6. 😣 Between harvest/preserving season, homeschool, work, cooking everything from scratch due to food allergies, and the mouse infestation, I have not been keeping up on anything. I do not like this feeling. Thankfully most of these are temporary.

i don't mind the damage nearly as much as i dislike the sound of them in the walls waking me up at night or the smell as they can be such messy critters.

peanut butter in traps almost always works, the basic trap usually has a bit of metal that you can stick a raisin on, but i also make it a challenge for them by putting just a little peanut butter on top of the trip pan and most of the peanut butter on the bottom of the trip pan so they have to work hard to get to it and often that will set the traps off.

My luck, snakes would follow the mice in... lol

It can be hard to eradicate all them, verify the external entry points are sealed off.

Today is a little better (less overwhelming).

• Dishes and laundry WERE caught up last night. (You'd never guess now!)
• Last batch of tomato sauce is cooking down in 2 crockpots.
• Made rolls, sandwich bread, and have another loaf of bread dough rising now. Maybe cinnamon swirl loaf?
• Roasted beet fries for DS14
• Made hot cocoa / mocha mix
• Mashed carrots - first attempt!
• Powdered dehydrated tomato pulp from making sauce
• Powdered last batch of dehydrated chard

I have a pile of butternut squash and gigantic zucchini still.

DS6 has been stubborn about school today, but has done enough now.

I didnt hear any mice the last 2 days or last night, and empty traps yesterday. Did we get them all? 🤞
