Gee Whiz! How did it get to be Thursday already? Time flies when you're .... well, time flies.

Finished up the goat maintenance by getting copper into the goats that I didn't get the other day. I'm so lucky that my goats love pumpkin puree. They will lick it off of a spoon or suck it out of a syringe no matter how many tiny little copper rods are mixed into it. Wish they loved wormer that much!

Got up and went to town fairly early this morning. Got grain and groceries. My stock ups this week were toiletry items. Even if the supply chain breaks down totally I'll have clean hair and fresh breath, lol. :weee Yay me!

Also picked up some things that were on sale to can. Pork butt, potatoes and butter. Never canned butter before but I reckon I can give it a try.

About to leave again to take DH to the doc for another procedure on his leg(s). He'll need pain meds for this one so I'll be in charge of transportation. I'll sit outside and wait for him to get finished so I'll have a couple hours to just chill and read a Kindle book. Nothing like forced inactivity to give you a chance to read without feeling guilty!

About to get started on canning day. Need to wash some jars and get started. I'm excited to get going on this project. Haven't canned anything in quite a while. Going to do potatoes first. While they're in the canner I can cut up the pork. Think I'll try making some ghee today instead of canning the butter. Thanks @tortoise for that idea. :)

@NH Homesteader - You're right, butter freezes beautifully, but I'm curious about other storage options. I've always wanted to try ghee - but I didn't know it was stable without refrigeration or canning. Gonna give it a shot.

pressure canning i hope? (potatoes and any other non-acidic items)
Absolutely! First batch of potatoes is about done. Have pork cut up and ready to go in the next batch. Used pints for the potatoes - but will use quarts for the meat.

All the peels are going to the pigs/chickens and I've got some pork trimmings in a pot on the stove. Might be lunch - might be dog food, lol. I'm usually not hungry for something if I've been cooking/working on it all day, but I can't NOT use it for something. Might just use it for soup or something in a couple days..
