@Mini Horses you and I hearken back to the days of the dinosaurs. Black and white TV, actually had to get off the couch and WALK to the squawk box to turn a knob to change channels (there were 3) or volume. A long distance call was a BIG DEAL, cost MONEY and you ran to the phone as fast as you could. Our phone was on a short cord in an alcove in the hallway. Cokes came in glass bottles and had a deposit on them of 3 pennies. People actually wrote letters and mailed them to communicate. Wow! What a concept!

For oldies like us, learning how to navigate all this electronic whiz bang stuff really is a revelation. LOL

I'm not that old and I remember all but the glass Coke bottles. I'm really NOT that old yet! I promise!

Me too! Me too! but I do remember my dad getting beer in glass bottles in box cases that the tops folded in. Also, remember banana seats on bikes and when it was ok to smoke indoors. I like to think that I am not that old but since I have reached and crossed my half way mark in life, I might be older than I want to admit.

I remember them all too. It was hard to forget some of them. My folks were so frugal they wouldn't buy anything new just because they wanted to keep up with the "jones". I graduated high school in '74, and married in 75. They still had a black and white TV. Finally, when my little sister told them she was embarrassed to have friends over because they STILL didn't have a color tv in 1980 they gave in. That old black and white one probably would've lasted forever. I'm surprised she didn't accidentally knock it over or spill hot oil into it's guts, lol.

oh gosh, banana bike seats were the fad when I was learning to ride a bike, about 5 - 6 years old. My state banned indoor smoking when I was in middle school. Now that you mention it I remember how we would have to find the non-smoking section of a restaurant, .

I am very happy with my generational status - Millenial. I am old enough to have gone through childhood without computers - and my family didn't have TV. But I'm young enough to have learned to use computers in middle school and have them part of everyday life. It's a great balance. I don't have the mental health problems or poor social skills of Gen Z, but and I'm more comfortable with technology than Gen X. I'm also on the better financial side of Millenials. When I graduated high school it was very easy to find jobs - the employment section of the paper was the thickest section! Just 2 years later it was a single page - yikes. I was very lucky to get job experience when any high school kid could get hired on the spot. Those 2 years younger than me had a really tough start. I was also lucky to not complete a college degree and not have student loan debt. DH is Gen X, which also helps with our financial situation. He has an advanced degree and was able to enter his field before there was a glut of new graduates and rampant underemployment in his field. Millenials have had a rough go at it in general, so I'm very thankful.

I'm not halfway, I decided I'm going to live longer.

Long distance calls. Lol... plus, party lines.

At college, my mom and I had a secret code. I would call collect and use a different name depending on the intended message. She would decline the call and get the message .

I loved Brach's candy displays. The last one I saw was about 8 years ago near Christmas. Of course I bought some for the kiddo, and it wasn't as good as I remembered.

Every drug store had a soda fountain....sandwiches and single made ice cream sundaes. Yum. 😁 some things I miss.....gasoline for $.29 a gal is one!!!

Of course it's all relative. Income was waaay less.

Oh wow - party lines! Had forgotten about those. I remember being secretive and careful because one of the folks on our line was very, very sneaky about listening in, lol.

I remember having a clerk in the produce section of the grocery store that would weigh and price mark all the produce before you took it to the check-out stand.

Soda fountains were before my time, but when I was a kid I volunteered at a museum that had an antique soda fountain counter. I can make ice cream sodas, sundaes, malts, banana splits, and scoop a perfect round ice cream ball. I wrote their first volunteer training manual when I was about 10 years old. I bet it was terrible!
