I'm all caught up in fishing mania, lol! Going back Friday or Saturday or maybe both. My son's boat is not a "fishing" boat per se. I guess you can fish from just about any boat that floats though. The only issue with his boat is that it's big and deep and can't get up into the shallows. So, I've been looking at fishing kayaks. They are so cool! They're usually just a one-person rig, even though they do have a few two-seater models. IF I were to be self-indulgent, my tentative plan would be to get a small one that I could load and unload in the back of my truck without needing help. We could pull it behind DS's boat out to our fishing spot and then we could use it to get up into shallower water where a lot of the fish hang out.

My son thinks I'm nuts for looking at one that's pedal powered. (he thinks a troll motor is the way to go - but it adds to the weight and complexity) I want simple! With my shoulder issues I can't see me paddling a kayak for any amount of time. But, my legs are strong and I could save my shoulders for casting a line, lol. I'd want to tie off to DS's boat with a long line though just because I'm a chicken and wouldn't want to float away if something happened. Anyway.... it would just be a little fun thing to do. Not sure I'll ever follow through, but one can dream, lol.

Spent some time this morning unloading round bales. I've got one out of the trailer and put away, the second one is unloaded but not put away and the third one is still just sitting in the trailer taking up space. When that chore is finished I'll gather up a couple of bucks that I want to sell and I'll put them in there for easy access if someone wants to consider taking them off my hands. Yay - hopefully less mouths to feed.

Definitely have blooms on my bean plants. Excited about that. Wish I'd planted more now.

Eggs in the incubator. I mentioned that I had a predator a few weeks ago. It's time to replace those birds. While the predator didn't take any quail he musta scared some of them so badly that they scalped themselves on the top of the cage and died. ARGH! So, quail eggs and chicken eggs cooking away. Should hopefully start hatching this weekend.

Cabbage/broccoli/cauliflower seeds are started. Planted mangel beets but haven't seen any emergence yet. Thinking about planting some peas around the spent okra stalks. My lazy self thinks letting the peas climb on the okra would be easier than building a trellis, lol.

DH got a tandem fishing kayak this spring. He likes it quite a bit. Downside is the sit-on-top style kayaks are crazy-heavy. It's a 2 person job to get it up on top of the truck. You might want to get or make a kayak trailer if you go for a fishing kayak.

So glad to hear he likes it!

Yep - I'm checking weights and it's an important factor specifically because I don't want to have to trailer it. Just something else to have to maintain. I've found a 10.5 foot that weighs about 60 lbs. I have certain criteria that I'm not negotiable on and haven't found THE one yet (at least not within my desired budget) I'm in no rush. I'm definitely waiting for my son to decide if fishing is a fad for him or a passion, lol.

go for the tube/float wader type where you can just float up to where you want to get to. simple. not too expensive.

Where we fish now - salt water. It's shallow flats but there are oyster reefs that I don't wanna be anywhere near. Oh - and sharks. Nope - not putting my feet in the water!

I fell wearing waders once and thought I was going to drown. It was a very muddy flooded area and the more I tried to stand up, the more I sank in the mud.

I have one like this - only with red/orange floats. It has a wheel that attaches to help move it from truck bed to water's edge and has a place to attach a trolling motor. Haven't used it too much, but I will get use out of it. DH always wants to troll for walleyes when we go fishing, I prefer casting for pan fish. This little pontoon will give me the ability to go casting without him.

oh, yeah, for sure, if there are sharks and such around that's not the place i'd want to be dangling anything at all.

I fell wearing waders once and thought I was going to drown. It was a very muddy flooded area and the more I tried to stand up, the more I sank in the mud.

i had those big clunky rubber boot waders for a short period of time, but one day i fell twice when walking a stream and that hurts besides almost breaking things and such. so i went out and bought stocking foot waders and the boots had felt soles so they gripped well even on slippery rocks. i never fell again and walked a few hundred miles of streams in those before i sold them. where i am at now there aren't places i want to fish, but i could have used the waders to get back in the drainage ditch to clean some things out of there. it would be easier on my legs to do it that ways than to try to work on the banks at an angle.

I really want to just jump into this but my practical self is telling me to wait until spring. Doesn't make sense to get one now when we won't likely fish much after November-ish. Probably start up again in March/April. I'm excited about the possibility though. I love to fish!

Kinda sad today - I'll be offering Conan for sale. I've kept so many daughters and granddaughters of his that it's time for him to move on. Also have a young buckling 1/2 Kiko and 1/2 Nubian that's on the "to go" list too. AND, considering moving one of the Myotonic bucks as well. Operation "herd reduction" in action.

Next on the list are ducks. So many ducks! I haven't decided if I should just get out of ducks altogether or keep maybe a trio. But, some of 'em need to move away for sure.

Finally got all my hay unloaded. Feel pretty good about that. I have 8.5 bales. Not sure if I'll get another 3 or not. Probably...

Truth right there! Have a few in the freezer already and will likely put some of these in there, but I'm trying desperately to make room in my freezer for a big ol' pig. (and fish - maybe)

DH saw three deer this morning on the way to PT. When I bought my fishing license I went ahead and got the hunting license too. Pretty cheap at the senior rates. So....who knows what might go in my freezer next. (during hunting season, of course)
