Replace fridge door seal?

Has anyone here replaced a fridge door seal? Any tips?

if it is that old it might be better off longer term to replace the whole fridge - power company may give rebates for working old fridge in the process (and haul the old one away for free). in a few more years ours will probably have paid for itself in that it uses a lot less electricity and Mom really liked that it is much quieter too (even if it runs more it has a smaller compressor so it doesn't chew up much energy).

I would agree with @flowerbug if it a kitchen appliance. if it is an outdoor/garage/shed one, I would try and replace the seal. I haven't done one, but I but there is a YouTube video out there for it.

I found replacement seals... $207! I was expecting $60ish!

DH is going to see if the local used appliance guy can get them for less. Black November appliance sales are looking good right now...

I wanted a new seal from my not frost free upright freezer. It was so old that the gaskets arn't available anymore. So I now velcro the door closed and have a freezer alarm on/in it.

what you mean you can't make one out of flex seal? remember wax paper is a good idea where surfaces must come apart again...

i should have also made it clear that you want two layers of wax paper (one layer on each side that is gooped).

Go to Lowes or Home depot and get some of the gasket things that they make for storm doors... there are all types with double pieces of rubber stuff that squish together more to seal drafty storm doors... There are all sorts of different seal type things... some in rolls....

This does look like the weather stripping.

However, I'd actually put "freezer door gasket" and the size you need. Might find something for under $100.
