I’ve got a really old hoodie/jacket with a broken zipper and some holes. It think it would fit her but it’s cotton fabric, I’m afraid it would hold more water than her fur and she’d be worse off. We get a lot of rain in the winter usually. There’s no way to stay dry, even though they have shelters someone will always push her out and make her run into another one.
I think you're right about cotton, unless you have waterproofing spray on hand. Lanolized wool would be best. Cordura nylon and/or polyester fleece would be good choices too.

Tip: It costs less to buy fleece blankets at thrift stores than to buy fabric.

Can you make a jug for her to allow her inside, esp during this week of extreme. I was thinking waterproofing, also. But inside cotton works. Are any mini horses near? The blankets I have from show days work for my large goats. Cordura. Maybe used one for sale on CL? I know mine cost $100- $150. Over 30 years ago. I have cordura and lined cordura....for cold. No idea current prices on line. But mini horse ones less than big horse.

Go to thrift shop for jackets, blanket, etc. To use. A wrap of Velcro can help fit to her.

I don’t really have the ability to give her a jug. I have put her in the chicken coop before. The chicken coop is an 8x8 shelter with a run. She panics and tries to escape, but I’ve locked her in there under the heat light before. I can’t exactly do that right now though, we had a predator kill or injure several birds in 2 days so everybody is locked up in there, even the injured birds. So she’d trample and kill them, and they have no where else to go.

My neighbor might have one for a calf, I’ll ask her to dive in her shed. It’s been a few years since she had calves, but maybe. The neighbor with mini horses isn’t exactly friendly.🤣

Good idea on the Velcro. I might have to jimmy rig a coat and make sure no body sees until it’s too late🤣

Went to the farm store this evening, where this female rottweiler wanted me to take her home. She was dragging her owner through the isles following me 🤣 Bear would have liked if I would have brought her home. Seeing that both he and she are not "fixed" and surely puppies would follow. She licked my face and beard. I have a special place for dogs, expecially rotties. Poor girl had a sweater on 🙄. She would have made a great farm dog but her owner wouldn't part with her. I asked her if she wanted to be a farm dog? she barked, wagged her little nub and jumped up on me. But her owner still wouldn't part with her, I tried 😔 gave the owner my number in case she changes her mind.

Did I miss anything? My house will get cold(!!) with wind like that.
I hear ya, my house is cold this morning. Wood stove is going full force and we are stuck at 69. -9F outside right now, no snow yet and I can't hear the winds so they must be light for now. Sounds like tonight is when it is going to really start. Stay safe my WI friend! Luckily by next week it looks like it will be in the 20s, heat wave! lol

Last day of work and it is only a half day. DD8 has a gingerbread making function today at school and parents are invited to attend and help out so that is where I will be starting at 1:45 with 200 3rd graders :)

Then it is home, hunkered down and we aren't going anywhere if we don't have to until Friday morning (we need to do a grocery pick up for in laws) but it is only one errand that is it. I will be wrapping presents and making soup! Thankfully if we lose power it will be cold enough to keep all freezer/fridge items outside if needed.

Take care all

Frig items outside is only plus for cold!

We're looking for low teen nights & 20 days over weekend. Brutal for our norms but, here it comes.

Tomorrow we will be in 50s and rain. :idunno just before the deep freeze comes in. No shopping here but, turkey in frig for weekend cook. Warm the house. 😁. Cooked a pot of collards last night, for dinner and heat up with turkey.

Picking up extra straw today to add bedding in barns....Merry Christmas to them.

Yesterday was the 7th anniversary of the wife and me getting engaged. I wrote an announcement that sounded like a press release from a financial source touting the pending approved merger of our respective organizations. Included a "statement from an industry analyst" (a good friend of both of us). The whole thing was posted on FB and folks still talk about it. Good times
