So wet... just had another toad choker down pour pass through, over about 2 hours of heavy rain. All this rain is getting old... but this to shall pass.

In the general farming region of southern, IL, some farm fields are planted but then again some are not. Just one of those years I suppose.

I like agricultural maps, don't you?

Can't get a break to cut grass. It's tall, wet and I need boots to walk to the barns 🥴. Otherwise, jeans are wet almost to my knees. Really a very wet May/June. Some amount of rain daily for last 10 days...not flooding but too much at once. Rivers are up, ditches have water. Mosquitos abound!!

Ok, back to my cuppa. I'm going to work. Can't do another day inside. Taking a break -- yeah, out of house.

Ants!!! Never seen so many....bitty creatures, too 😳😡 You'd think rains would flood them but, only seems to have driven them out to attack.

Supposedly hot & dry rest of week. I like the "dry" part. Work half day. Then home a few days. GOT to mow yard -- dry up grass!

i hope it gets dried out enough you can mow it without choking out the mower! i had a patch get out of control last year for a month and a half and when i could finally get back to it i was using the mower tilted up to mow some of it down before i could go back for a third or fourth pass... got it done, but it looked bad for a bit. glad to say now i don't have to mow as much over there - it sure makes life easier. :)

This will take 2 cuts...one high. I'll have to hit some areas a second go but will wait a day or it'll be too ragged. Can't use the catcher as the grass blades are too full of moisture...I'll go over it when dried up. Won't take much with 90* temps 😎

Of course, the pastures are doing well 😁

I'm south of The Porch, and yes, my pastures are browning up. We don't get any measurable rain until late fall. We are used to brown as a color. Where Hinotori lives is in a drought classification.

"On June 5, 2025, the Department of Ecology (Ecology) issued a Drought Emergency Declaration for 19 watersheds that include all of Whatcom and Skagit counties, and portions of Snohomish, King, Pierce, Lewis, Thurston, Okanagan, Chelan, Clallam, Jefferson and Ferry counties."

I don't see Kitsap county in this declaration. Nor mine in Clark County.
