When it comes to flooring, everyone has a favorite: whether it’s the cozy warmth of carpet, the timeless beauty of hardwood, the durability of tile, or the low-maintenance appeal of vinyl. The “best” choice often depends on lifestyle, budget, and even climate.

Maybe you found the perfect flooring that survived kids, pets, and endless spills without showing a scratch. Or perhaps you splurged on a luxury option that completely transformed the look and feel of your home.

So, let’s talk floors!
  • What type of flooring did you choose?
  • What made it the best choice for you?
  • Would you recommend it to others?
Your experience might just help someone else avoid a costly mistake—or discover their dream floor.

wood floors all around except for a little bit of floor tile in a small utility room and the front entrance.

pretty easy to keep up (we don't wear dirty shoes in the house and we don't let people track dirt in and the floor will last longer than you will).

we've been here nearly 30yrs and it hasn't needed any refinishing or polishing. we just keep it dusted once in a while and if we spill something on it we get it cleaned up before it can cause problems.

the amount of issues we both have from dust and stuff in carpets that gets kicked up when they are vaccumed we rarely have any troubles here. i also don't miss the noise.

75% Tile kitchen living room hallways baths all tile office & library wood. Tile with very thin grout lines looks like it did when it went in 23 yrs ago. Wood looks very good to with some minor wear in office. Bedrooms have carpet and it looks overdue for replacement ... that will be wood or tile as well no more carpet anywhere. We will just get an area rug where it makes sense ...

Carpet is evil. Nasty stuff!

I waited way too long (for some reason flooring costs money  )

Other than that, I like the pretend floor I put down. It is not holding up as well as my tile floors and wood floors, but still looks good. For some reason, if you drop a sharp knife on a pretend wood floor.... the floor gets cut. :idunno

But, luckily the cut part is dark so doesn't show much.

I have maybe a couple spots on my 18 year old tile where the tile has been chipped... but I got tile that has the color throughout... so they don't show.

The wood floor still looks good.

Again... carpets can't ever be fully cleaned, and holds so much nasty.
