I've got some new pictures of the chick. I'm not sure if it's black or blue, but it sure is cute! Another one:

I'll get some better pictures once the chick is stronger and I don't have to worry so much about stressing it out.

The one egg hatched last night. It's a beautiful little chick. :) :love It's so great to see it peaking out from under Sugar's wing. Here's a picture: The chick is the black fuzzy thing under Sugar's chest.

Well, 1 of the 2 good silkie eggs somehow got rooted out of the nest and was in the cold all day. It was deader than a door nail. This upsets me. I guess there will be an only chick now, if the remaining egg hatches.

I have lots of beetles now. They like to be in the dark and hide under things. Here's a picture that shows some of the beetles that were out today: I got a pumpkin for the chickens since pumpkin is supposed to work as a natural de-wormer and have some saved for this winter. I have a broody...

I keep watching for a shed to go up for sale for cheap or for someone to tear an old building down and want to get rid of the...

Thanks! Yes, the rate is lower here. The organic eggs at the grocery store go for I believe $3.58, and that is as expensive as they get, but none of my customers would pay that price. I would love to raise my price but I don't want to scare anyone off.

I fed the chickens their first meal worms this morning. They loved them! The chickens are really laying well now that it's cooled off. I'm making enough off them to treat myself to a few extras here and there. 2 dozen eggs from the past week waiting to be sold at $2 a dozen:

That's pretty neat. It's good to know that this is normal.

    Erin's Journal- Turning Frugal

Many of the meal worms have shed their skin (which the others are eating) and have turned into these weird looking things that is the stage between larvae and beetle. Here is a picture of them (the 2 light colored ones) At first I thought they were dying, but on closer inspection the things...
