Those are great memories of your traditions. The citrus thing is because it was shipped north by train in the early winter. My grandparents always bought it by the case

Bob's Red Mill potato flakes...perfect in a pinch. The wife wanted some sourdough bread, so I chose a potato flake starter. Miscommunication wife the wife, she ordered way too much, so we are stocked. I am a fan of this product

French onion soup

16 pints of beef vegetable soup, with half the broth remaining yet. French onion soup tomorrow. These electric pressure canners are the bomb.

The beef vegetable soup is outstanding. The roasted bone broth, simmered for 36 hours in a big roaster is sooooo creamy to the mouth feel. Before eating, I added some heated previously canned white potatoes. 😋

Wife is slated for more surgery in January, so she is insistent on putting up soups and ready to eat meals now, see my post in the canning thread.
