Someone may have mentioned this already, but has anyone heard about running a humidifier? I read an article today that mentions this, and I am also reading about the vitamin D. What do you think? Here is a link to the article:
The big picture: 9 reasons to RE-worry about the (swine) H1N1 flu -...
Yeah, my chickens love them. The cucumbers that get too big, I give to the chickens. I cut the cucumber into small pieces. Most of the time, they knock the container out of my hand before I can even lay it down on the ground.

Thanks for all the wonderful support. :)
The blood in the poop has me thinking that perhaps she might have coccidiosis or maybe an internal parasite problem. I was just reading about some of the symptoms here for coccidiosis, which are: blood-tinged feces, ruffled feathers, loss of appetite...
I have been watching this chicken a lot closer with the feathers coming out for the past two days. She eats and drinks water, but she does not have the same appetite as the other chickens, although she is not in any distress. I tried giving her scrambled egg for protein, but she wouldn't touch...
I tried the scotch tape method to see if I see any bugs, but I didn't see anything. She was squirming a lot so I need to try that again. I noticed that her crop didn't have much in it and was mushy. I felt the other chickens crops to get a comparison, and their crops were full. I will definitely...
She is almost 15 months. I don't have any experience with a chicken molting yet so it is hard for me to tell, but I was under the impression that they molted at a later time. I hate to think my husband culled a chicken just for molting.
:ep
I thought my problem was solved, but now I am noticing more feathers missing from the same hen. In fact, her feathers are looking really shabby again. This time on the wings and some other places. There are areas on both of the wings that look almost symmetrical where I am wondering if she could...
I noticed some people have mentioned the Ruger 10/22. That would be a great choice for small game. We mostly shoot handguns, but I also enjoy shooting the Ruger 10/22 because it does not have much recoil; it is not too loud; and the ammo is fairly cheap for target practice.
Your chickens are gorgeous. I love the shiny black feathers. I want one with all black feathers. :love
About the limp, I was thinking maybe she stepped on something that could have injured her foot. Try looking very closely at the feet for splinters or maybe a claw injury. If that is OK, I...
This is a really good article from Time Magazine, which mention some of the problems that vaccine makers are encountering. The entire article is worth reading, but the last paragraph stood out. To have recorded flu cases in the middle of the summer is extraordinary. For example, I read not too...
OK...thanks for the information. Maybe I should work on getting rid of it soon. Unfortunately, the only option is the landfill because I don't think it can be recycled for anything. That's another dilemma that I won't expound on.
I have already read enough information to convince me that microwaves are NOT safe so I "disagree" with anyone who tries to tell me otherwise. If you want to believe that microwaves are safe that is definitely your prerogative. ;)
We are having problems with our microwave. I noticed the problem first when melting butter. When I tried to melt butter, it would spark. Now it is doing that with most everything, sometimes making a horrendous array of sparks inside. The only way it will work correctly is to put a glass of water...
