Same here. I spend a lot more time on another SS site, simply because when I click on "New Posts" There's more to read because journal's don't go on that page. Recent posts here, are mostly journals and dilute actual topics.
Thanks for the tips, currently I have cedar shavings and chicken poop, but a neighbor is giving away horse poop, so I'm going to get a truckload of that at the end of the season and let it sit over winter. I'll be looking for sand now!
Does anyone make potting soil from ingredients they produce on site? I've found tons of recipes to make your own, but you still need to buy most of the ingredients.

Does anyone hear start seedlings early without the use of grow lights or heat mats? I want to start some seeds next month but our current house is small and we can afford extra use of electricity.
We have a south facing glassed in porch, but its really cold during the night.

I decided to try my hand at making bread recently as well. My wife has made tons of it, but she's been working more and hasn't had time, so I figured to try it. We used to use a bread machine, but found it was just as easy without one. My latest recipe I tried was in Mother Earth News...
Eliot Coleman has designed some really great tools. I would research them and see if there's anything you like. I have the small narrow hoe for weeding and LOVE it. I know Johnny Select Seeds carries his tools, but not sure who else does.
