    Reading this I am thinking about that cartilage and small bones. I have a very large colander that I will stuff with my bird carcass and lower into my big canner. I fill the canner with water, onions, garlic, carrots, celery and whatever else I have on hand...poultry seasoning, oregano...

    Rhoda Bruce you make some good points. I am all about turning off lights, cooking from scratch, using the wood stove, keeping the house at 55, staying home, combining trips, using the library, walks, free activities, and goodwill

    Love aldis. Cheese, butter, cream Che's, cottage Che's, cheddar, sliced Swiss, celery, fruit, eggs, milk, wraps, lettuce, baby spinach, hum as, avacados, tomatoes, potatoes, melons....all significantly cheaper. Sorry about typos

    Shopped at aldis today and paid about a third of what that stuff costs at weis

    Low Cost Houses?

    We found a cheap and lovely seasonal house in central NY. It's open from April until November and then the gates get locked. A great way to escape the Maryland heat and you can live pretty frugally up there in the summer!

    Both my husband and my family have no idea of the work that goes into keeping our house from crumbling and our tiny amount of land and garden maintained. They love to be drop in leaf peepers and such but don't understand that we have to chop up those leaves, mow the field, weed the garden etc etc

    Anybody here used fishbone meal for phosphorus?

    Denim deb I used it around the back porch of our cottage last year to keep mr groundhog from going under, and it worked...hosta slips liked it too
