    Bees?

What does your friend have them in now? The bees won't stay if they don't like their new home. Sometimes even when bees are put into a regular hive they will fly off if it doesn't feel right. I kind of doubt they will stay in the cedar log. Usually after hiving a swarm you need to close the...

I use foundationless frames only so I have never dealt with the wax sheets but are you sure you have the right size wax for the right size frame. You may have shallow wax and a medium frame or something like that or you may not be bringing the sheet all the way down to the very bottom of the frame.

If you have a bee club anywhere near you most of them go in on large orders of package bees and send someone down south to pick them up and they distriubute them to members the next day. You may be able to piggyback on an order. If you know of any beekeepers that catch swarms or wouldn't mind...

I am familiar with Weaver and the type Weaver sells are actually an Italian strain that they have out crossed and developed themselves. Alot of people do this but this is the first time I have heard them called All-American. Their packages are the most expensive I have ever seen and then you...

Its finally warm enough here that the bees are flying all over the place today. They were trying to fly into the kitchen when I opened the door for the mail. I can see them all coming and going into their hives. Its a beautiful sight to see because it means they have at least made it this far...

I have been pulling frames throughout the summer and doing cut comb. Its such a beautiful thing, all that nice white creamy wax and honey! I just love it, I sold some and gave some away to family and friends. No one had ever had or even seen cut comb honey before so it was something nice for...

Your comments are very sweet, thank you. I am happy to share what I learn, I like to help and support other people who are trying do the same things. The schools and clubs just don't preach this stuff so its hard to get information sometimes. You are doing this as a hobby and it should be fun...

If the hive had great genetics and something had just happened to the queen and they wanted to raise their own queen from an emergency queen cell then I would let them. If they decided the queen was not doing well, which is usually the case, they see it before the beekeeper does then they will...

The warre' hives interest me and I have been getting some information on them from another beekeeper. I have been doing some of the things put into practice in the warre' hives such as bottom supering the brood boxes and trying to never interfere in their brood nest. I will actually be seeing...

M&G, That approach is referred to as the the live and let die method. I am on board with that as well. I will not treat my bees and prefer to build up better survivor stock from my 11 colonies. I have alot of diverse stock in my yard and will work with whatever I have left each spring and bring...
