Did you notice those black boots she wearing? She calls them her "chicky boots" I bought the smallest pair I could find and they are still way to big... My wife bought her pink ones that fit her but she won't wear them because their not black like Paw Paw's Chicky Boots. Grand kids are the best!!!

Shhhh... Don't tell... but in November she's getting 6 of my buff orpengton hens, a rooster, chicken yard and a coop for her third birthday. It's ok - I've already ok'd it with her Mom and Dad :)

Awwww! What a little cutie! :love And what a wonderful present for her birthday! She is going to enjoy having her own little flock so much..

When our oldest grand daughter (10 now) was 3, I took her to the feed store and we bought 6 sex link chicks. I figured she might "love" a couple to death, but you never saw a more careful child. She carried chicks around for the week she and her parents stayed with us. We still have one of those chickens, Robin, a black sex link with a red breast, the matriarch of the flock.

We keep "chicken boots" at the door in a not so neat pile. :lol:

I told you my chickens would love me really long time.

I missed collecting eggs yesterday - Holy Jesus they love me. I got 49 eggs. NO more sweetcorn and frozen treats.

Truth is I have entirely too many hens now that the first brood of 14 this late winter has come in to lay.

There is no such thing as "too many hens" :old Sell, trade or give away the extra eggs. I sold my extras and the demand was so huge, I ended up building up to a flock of over 100 birds and still came nowhere close to having enough eggs for everyone that wanted some.
