WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

Got started early this morning. I bought 5 pineapples on sale the other day for .99. I dehydrated two, made jam out of one, and canned the other two in a light syrup this morning. I got 8 1/2 pints and 5 pints of pineapple tidbits. Tempted to go back and get more at that price. Maybe...

our local most favorite chinese place to eat has sweet and sour sauce made from pineapple juice (and other things too) and of all of them i've tried over the years they're still the one we like the best.

last week we went for a lunch and one of the nephews was able to join us and he doesn't really like sweet things but he said that he really liked that sauce.

many years ago i asked the owners for the recipe and they gave me the quick verbal version of it. just in case they ever go out of business. we've been going there over 50yrs now...

I have some ham & some pork loin canned. It's been good. Convenience factor is great. DO IT ! 😀

Day trip planned for tmrw but I have cabbage & thinking I'd like to can some stuffed cabbage rolls. You know, make all the "mess" in one go for several meals. 😆 Maybe Sunday

I always check store prices to keep myself in line & appreciate my time spent in prep/canning. Been doing a good amount of meats.

A pint of chicken, home canned is a solid 16oz. I add nothing beyond salt, finished product has some broth. Maybe 2oz. A small can at store is 12oz, 3 liquid/9 meat. (Same ratio with tuna in store).

WM store brand chicken breast was $2.84, Swanson $4.79. I canned 4 pints, from $3 of last date/marked down PKG chicken breast I bought. So, yeah -- worth it!! Lid was $.33 on a jar, toss at opening. Jar reuse. And more product in my jar at far less cost. 👍
