Man, once again my heart goes out to you and yours. I'm glad you're able to find things to focus on to get you through this...its probably the way your dad would have wanted it. Just keep hanging in there.
As to spirits, yes I believe. There is a LOT of spirit belief in native...
I just posted pics of a greenhouse we built, and I thought I would also share pics of the deer blinds, stands and hog traps we have been making. I thought some of ya'll might get some ideas to use, as well as show off the fine work of my partners(and myself lol)
Hog trap. The hog pushes i...
I thought ya'll might enjoy(and maybe get some ideas from) these pics. This is a custom greenhouse me and my partners built for a lady, just finished today. Its very cozy and unique.
This is the framework, made of 2"x2" steel tubing' along with windows and J-trim along the bottom...
Man can't believe I missed this thread for so long. Ardmore here(southern Okla).
Also, Okiegirl...probably won't make it to the BYC swap. Something along those lines though is Sulpher trade days. Its from 6 or 7 Am till about noon on Sundays(I think). They have chickens, other poultry...
I also just read what happened...that really sucks. I'm sorry for ya'll also. We lost our first batch(6 BO pullets just getting ready to start laying) just like that, so I feel your loss. Sorry again.
I'll definitly keep everyone posted. I was told by our towns beautification council at a gardening expo last month if I could come up with something, they thought it might be marketable. My boss is also interested in new sellable ideas. Plus I want one for myself!
I have been thinking...
A while back I saw a pic either in a magazine or on the net of a wall garden. It was maybe 1 foot wide by 4 foot, and maybe 5 feet tall. It was built on wheels so it could be moved around on a deck or into and out of sunlight/shade. has anyone seen what I am talking about...and more...
Personally, I like the Japanese painted ferns, because they don't get as tall as ostrich ferns. Cinnamon ferns are cool also. I like the painted ferns mixed with some hostas, and some purple oxalias...these look like giant shamrock clover but are purple.
hey ya'll
Well, things are going pretty good around here. Garden is doing well, chickens are happy and laying, weathers nice, and still making paychecks. I am repainting our shed(which hasn't been painted since the 50's); thats really making the backyard look nice. I planted yellow and red...
Fishing report for southern Oklahoma: GOOD!!!
Took John fishing this weekend, and we caught a mess of channel cat. John hooked the first one. He fought and fought it(all by himself and landed his biggest fish to date; about 7 lbs. I caught one about the same size a few moments later, then...

My grand dad had 5 ponds, on he kept stocked exclusively with channel cat. He fed them everynow and then, not full time, but we had fresh catfish whever we wanted, so IMO its definitly worth it.
Just for giiggles(or lack there of), I just looked up the pen he used. $125.00!!!!! I think I'll get one, just send bill to 2600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Sheesh, no wonder our country is in debt to our eyeballs.
This has been on my mind for days, so I am finally gonna rant a bit. The other day I was watching the news about the president signing the historical health care reform(dont worry, not a health care rant). He used 23 pens to sign this into effect. The pens he used were very fancy, costing...
Yeah, used to be fall was my favorite time of year, but since I have gotten into growing and SS, its spring. Speaking of growing, got to get some spinach going SOON. Sure wish I could find that dang camera cord, I really want to show off the urban farm.
Thats pretty neat. Do you have to start out with some grubs to get it going? If you decide to make your own, please post how you go about it, I'm very interested.
Well 500 is a great price, but with a reciept, somethings wrong. He could have just wrote you an as is, no refunds reciept, or something like that. We have had folks try to load up buildings in the middle of the night, but without the proper equipment, its harder than it looks, especially with...
Hey ya'll
Been awhile since I have posted...been checking in and reading every now and then. Just been very down, but I don't want to talk about that, time to put it away.
So we still haven't been able to find the cord to download or charge up our digital camera...so no pics, which sucks...
BBH,
Building and setting up sheds like these are what I do, and you would be surprised at how often folks attempt to steal them, or sell someone elses out from under them. You're instincts were good, IMO.
Just out of curiousity, how much was he charging for a 10x16? Was it wooden, or...
