    Need help quickly! How sticky...

OK here goes. The bread was pretty good. DH and kids all ate plenty (me too). It turned out really well for all the problems I had. Sticky dough. Then I put plastic wrap over it while rising so the towel wouldn't stick, and the platic wrap stuck!! By the time I got it unstuck my beautiful...

    Tomorrow is it... UPDATE

I can't thank each of you enough for your kind words. I spent my first day making laundry soap, bread, and doing laundry. I played on the computer plenty too :P mostly here! However, after I picked the kids up from school, our principal called. Another girl had to resign for unknown (to me)...

    USE IT UP Challenge--being frugal

I love Windex too. I have been making my own. Love it as much as the store stuff. We use it as a general purpose cleaner here. It is so cheap to make, that I have replaced other cleaners with it. I clean the table, counters, windows...whatever!!

    Need help quickly! How sticky...

Thanks you all. I did add some more flour to it. It hadn't started rising to speak of. Annmarie - have you ever had King's Hawaiian Bread? The most common one is a round loaf. Many people cut it out like a bowl and put spinach dip in it. It is a slightly sweet bread. I had a recipe for...

Hang in there girl! Things can be overwhelming if you think through them too much. I try to go on auto pilot when I start doing the panic thing. There will be time to panic later, need to function now!! :gig Seriously though, I'm not sure I can say anything to make you feel better, but I...

    Need help quickly! How sticky...

should my bread dough be? I am making some Hawaiian bread. Did not use the bread machine. It calls for 6 c. flour. Let rise 1 hr, then add .5c flour, knead, bake. I sifted the flour, was this wrong? The dough seems VERY sticky to me. I don't know if I should add more flour now, or wait...

    Tomorrow is it... UPDATE

Actually FC, before Christmas I bought myself some "learn to" kits for knitting and crocheting. I got them in the kids' section of the craft store. Now might be a good time to break them out. I felt a little silly buying them for myself, but hey, I have been around kids so much lately that I...

    Tomorrow is it... UPDATE

Thanks everyone. I know we'll be OK. My sweet principal was near tears when she told me. She and the teacher in my room are still trying to come up with something to keep me there. Worse case (I think - -I never challenge worse) is I just wait until fall and apply for a full time position...

Processed meat birds - going out for pizza!!

FC - maybe you can answer this for me. I've canned a lot of stuff, but not meat. If I cook down those legs/thighs, can I can the meat that comes off, and can the broth for stock? Maybe it's just a dumb question, but I'll admit my ignorance on this. I just want to use my birds to their...

And now I wait for Spring!

I agree!! DH and I were just looking through the seed catalogs today. It is a dreary 32* right now. No sun for a few days now and doesn't look like we're getting any for a while. It gets depressing! Sad thing is last year after we planted (kinda late for here) we got another cold snap (mid...

Processed meat birds - going out for pizza!!

When I said we only eat the breast, I meant that if I'm shopping for chicken I only buy breasts or Chicken tenders (aka tenderloins). Not my word, it's what I've heard them called. Here is a wiki definition: "the tenderloin is an especially tender cut of meat due to its infrequent use...

Processed meat birds - going out for pizza!!

Hey everyone- thanks for the words of encouragement. Well, I just got done cutting up the chickens. I have to say there was no more smell after spending the night in the fridge. They even seemed to look different - probably my imagination - but I'm grateful none the less! I have the breasts...

Processed meat birds - going out for pizza!!

Well, I'm not sure if it's a good price or not....$3 per bird, packaged. DH had done the quiz of how much would you pay? $5 a bird -- no $2 a bird -- yes (only AFTER doing them today) $3 a bird -- yes (only after doing them today) $4 a bird -- a definite maybe So when the quote came...
