    Bread Machine

I use our machine all the time now. I use a basic oatmeal bread recipe. When I get the ingredients out to put together one loaf, I also gather all the spare quart jars I have...I then make up extra bread mixes, minus the wet ingredients. So much better than hassling with the stuff each time I...

    Repurpose for bib overall shorts!

Thank you! Isn't it funny how often it's the "DUH!" ideas that strike us!?! I kept thinking...I need a new bag...I need a new bag...and all the time, the pair of shorts was right in plain view!! Little effort and energy and I had my new bag! My forehead should be bright red from all the...

    Repurpose for bib overall shorts!

No picture, as my dinosaur dial up won't let me upload! :( I can take a picture later and email to you, though, if you like. Now, keep in mind it was just a quickie stitch job...nothing fancy!! Didn't do it with posting on a site in mind!!

    Repurpose for bib overall shorts!

I needed a new clothespin bag (the bluebirds built a nest in my old one, so sacrificed to them! Won't leave the new one on the line!!) I grabbed a pair of bib overall shorts out of the box destined for the thrift store and sewed across the leg openings. Turned, and ta-da!! New clothespin...

What recommended wastefullness do you avoid?

When I don't hang out our laundry, I spray a few spritzes of fabric softener on a cleaning rag and toss in dryer instead of softener sheets. I use a lot less softener this way. Granted, I don't use softener in the washer at all, so most of the time my laundry gets none.

    Recipes needed: Prickly Pear Cactus

I have a LARGE patch of the prickly pear cactus plants (ones that have yellow blooms). I have heard that you can make jelly and candy from these. Anyone here have proven recipes that you would suggest? Thanks!

    Plants--easy money for some!

Speaking of plants...I have a BUNCH of prickley pear plants (yellow blooms) that I would love to sell...How much do you think I could get for those? I currently have them advertised on cl for $10 a 5 gallon bucket... Is that fair or reasonable?

    Plants--easy money for some!

The peach trees are about 12 inches tall. I am in the upstate of South Carolina and these more than likely came from peaches from THE PEACH TREE, between York and Clover, since that is where I get all my peaches. They have such an awesome variety that it's hard telling which kind these are...

    Plants--easy money for some!

Great idea about the sapling trees! We have a bunch of peach trees growing from where we dumped peelings a few years ago. Wonder how much I can get for 2 year old peach trees?? :D

Homemade laundry soap...WHERE do you find the washing soda????FOUND!

Thank you so much for the affirmation on the soap. I have had some sceptical responses from family members when I mention that I am going to try the laundry soap. (Hoping to prove to them that it's a good idea!) With a boy starting college in August, I am trying to reevaluate our spending...

Homemade laundry soap...WHERE do you find the washing soda????FOUND!

Okay, frugalites, I am trying my best to round up the ingredients for the laundry soap. Looked at WalMart yesterday for the washing soda, but all they have in the laundry aisle is 'Arm & Hammer BAKING soda'. I am in the upstate of SC. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!! :) Being the...

WHAT is your favorite way to save $?

Thanks for the welcome! If I were to list all the ways we practice being frugal, it would take a while! It's just a lifestyle choice. Hey...we were thrifty when thrifty wasn't cool!! (Imagine the tune of the Donny and Marie Osmond song to that line!!) Thanks for the opinions on the laundry...

WHAT is your favorite way to save $?

I have always been frugal, so it's hard to say which is my favorite way to save $$$. I garden, hang out my laundry, coupon, do the thrift store thing, yard sale, etc. I just enjoy seeing how far I can stretch our money, with God's help! I am truly trying to be that Proverbs 31 woman! I love...
