    Pasta, flour nutrition value?

I have read that flour quickly loses its nutrition value, so you should stock up on and store wheat instead of flour, then grind it into flour yourself when you're ready to use it. How long exactly does flour hold its nutrition value? Does pasta lose its nutrition value as well?

Quick chicken question (new question added)

I would just fence the garden, but I have a bunch of birds and it would be FAR easier to fence the garden than try to move around a chicken fence every day LOL Have you looked at the mobile henhouses with pen? There are several different styles, and look pretty easy to move.

I live in the Rocky Mountains and LOVE it- deer and elk walk through my yard every day, and wild turkeys walk around on my porch LOL. However, if you want TRUE wilderness, go to Alaska! It is amazing! It just blows me away at the vastness and WILDNESS, literally!

How expencive is it in USA?

SO true... but I will still never move away from my country, I love it with all of my heart and soul and will do anything I can to preserve the Constitution until I die- just as all of my forefathers have since funding and fighting in the Revolution. For now, we'll just get ready to hunker down...

    sleep aids

I didnt read your post before writing mine. Valerian doesn't make me fall asleep, either, but helps me to stay asleep, and also relaxes sore muscles. WHY make your own soap, lotion, etc?

To use yucca for soap you use the root, which kills it. You mash the root and dry it, then use it like powder soap.

Hunting for food...does it justify the cost?

Just a little trivia- what we call Elk in the USA is a different species what Europeans call Elk- it is more similar to Red Deer, and Red Deer and Elk can crossbreed (which is why it is illegal to farm Red Deer here). What Europeans call Elk, we American's call Moose. :)

Hunting for food...does it justify the cost?

It depends. We butcher our own, so the expenses are= gasoline, wear & tear on truck & tires, insurance on truck, a small fee for the tag & license, butcher paper, and freezer tape. Oh, and electricity for the meat grinder. Take into account that we'd already be paying at least as much if not FAR...
