Milk. Have 9 pints almost room temp, just filled them from the qt ones I had taken from frig a few hrs ago to warm. Need room in frig & tired of doing cheese this week. But I'm thinking cajeta next! 😉 Down to 1 jar....yeah, I need more! Milk's available.
Yes, milk is a rebel can. It's low...
This will take 2 cuts...one high. I'll have to hit some areas a second go but will wait a day or it'll be too ragged. Can't use the catcher as the grass blades are too full of moisture...I'll go over it when dried up. Won't take much with 90* temps 😎
Of course, the pastures are doing well 😁
The thinking about it broody is committed. 🙄 Don't need chicks. Don't want her where she's chosen. Will try to move her one night & hope. I'll need a pint of bug spray for myself to be out there for a move attempt 😁 I have a broody house set, need to add food & water containers, make a nest...
Ants!!! Never seen so many....bitty creatures, too 😳😡 You'd think rains would flood them but, only seems to have driven them out to attack.
Supposedly hot & dry rest of week. I like the "dry" part. Work half day. Then home a few days. GOT to mow yard -- dry up grass!
Can't get a break to cut grass. It's tall, wet and I need boots to walk to the barns 🥴. Otherwise, jeans are wet almost to my knees. Really a very wet May/June. Some amount of rain daily for last 10 days...not flooding but too much at once. Rivers are up, ditches have water. Mosquitos...
And pectin has gotten expensive!!! I bought a12pk "deal" last yr...so glad I did. Still have 10 boxes. Looking at Ball low sugar can for this yr. I'm not a fan of real sweet jams & jellies.
This tractor thing keeps showing up with you 🤔
That would need water wings for you right now!
Raining here, as I type....not what y'all are getting. It's hard, straight down and so much it looks "foggy" out there. Supposedly 1.25" today and it's doing most now.
Slept until 7am alarm. 👍 Coffee, now breakfast -- PBJ. We've had some amount of rain every day for a week, mostly light. But heavy last night. Now, here comes summer blasting in...upper 87-94 predicted all week. Hot sun & dry. Beach tourists will be thrilled 😄
I'll get some farm things done...
Fog here, too. Rains pretty much every day or two, over past 2 weeks. Thankfully, not heavy stuff like TX & IL. Just enough to keep things wet!!! Wet enough to not be able to do a lot -- and enough to get your pant legs all wet because you can't mow. Heat & humidity is uncomfortable...
And the ricotta is so easy....so good in winter dishes. Freezes beautifully. Today, pint+ of cottage cheese. Had some cream I wanted used, the curds were lovely size. Plus a mound of garlic/basil and 2 of chevre topped with a touch of vanilla added to blueberry preserves -- I picked & canned...
Cheese starting. Mostly it'll be a batch of ricotta but, I'll pull half of curd, whip, add more cream & form a roll to cover with blueberry jam. Some, add garlic & basil into mixture -- use on bagels or crackers. I'll give samples away to friends. Lazy day.
Next weekend might be mozzarella...
Don't know about dinner but lunch was steamed shrimp. ☺️. Very nice! Some old bay, some cocktail sauce, some white wine....lovely :drool :old spoiling myself.
FAST!! Yes. my hen hatched ones are 6 wk old and zoom when mom calls them to eat bugs. The incubated ones are a week old. Oh, how I wish they were hen hatched! They don't learn to "be chickens" like others. 😕
