Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

First cup going this morning. Need to get some outside work done while our weather is tolerable. Heat and humidity are supposed to climb next week. Sigh....

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

Took DH to his endocrinology appointment this morning. Doc was ok with where he's at right now. That's always a relief. Got my shopping done afterwards. I hate shopping - but it's done for now. Didn't need much but starting to pick up a few things for the upcoming visit from the grands...

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

    Egg Hatching

I was surprised that her eggs aren't really that small. They started out bigger than what I expected and are all about the same size. So, confession time. I put the first 6 in the incubator already - you know - as an experiment, lol. I just candled 'em and 5 of the six are fertile! Woo...

    Egg Hatching

That has to be frustrating!! Question: do you hatch pullet eggs? I'm so tempted!

    Egg Hatching

I have a few silkie pullets running around. One started to lay a couple weeks ago and I've got two more that are close. Unfortunately, the one that just started has laid 10 eggs and is already trying to go broody, lol. I've kicked her off the nest twice today. Might have to put her in a wire...

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

True. I casually inspect other folks baskets when grocery shopping. Too many times the young family and the some of the oldsters have very little in their baskets. Cheap white bread, the awful pkgs of .99cent hot dogs, lots of rice and beans. Yes, there are ways to eat for less money, but I...

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

I keep saying that I'm going to earmark one of mine for the freezer. Then, wouldn't you know it, somebody comes along and offers me cash for 'em. I'm weak, lol. But, the plan is to save a couple back for the freezer this season. I need to get busy eating out of the freezer too! Need to make...

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

I don't doubt that at all! You gonna take the piggy plunge - or holding out? I hope that one of these little guys is big enough to harvest in spring - maybe April or early May before it gets really hot. Nothing better than pig raised the way Mother Nature intended (or at least as close as...

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

Morning! It's decently cool again this morning. I could get used to it. First cuppa down and I'll head out to take care of the critters momentarily. Need to take advantage of this weather!

    Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

WooHoo - my Texans finally won a game today! Had to relocate my pond turtle, Tilly, today. I left a fishing line in the pond yesterday and at some point during the night it was successful in catching a catfish. When I checked it this morning there was nothing left of the catfish except its...

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

Slept in a little. It's a bit after 8 and I'm on my first cup and going for my second before I head outside. Cooler mornings lately, but days are still heating up to low 90's. Fall will get here eventually, right?

    What's for dinner?

I Alfredo'd the eggplant. I had an open jar so needed to use it up. Put a think layer of alfredo sauce on the bottom of a baking dish, put the (pre-salted and rinsed) eggplant slices on top, spread more alfredo sauce on top and baked. Topped with lots of grated parm at the end. It was good...

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

Fed the critters and back inside for my second cuppa. WooHoo! Temps in the mid 60's this morning. We'll finally get some lower humidity also. Temps will still go up to the low 90's but with drier air - it's tolerable for sure!

I applaud your knowledge and persistence. I would never have the patience or the organizational skills to pull that off!
