Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

Still 36* at 9:30...less wind makes it more tolerable. Sure cold for chores tho. Inside for cooking, laundry, etc. To town for load of feed later, animals gotta eat. Down 17 goats in past 3 months -- that helps with feed bill. I'm on a roll. Plan to reduce about 10 more 🤞. Before I know...

    Are we living our dream?

Agree with both above replies. You are being unfair to him to not point out some ways he needs to change what he eats...kindly, of course. Remind the issues with diabetes and devastating effects. What you cook and limited amounts of "bad" foods even allowed in house at a time will matter...

    What's for dinner?

That makes "leftovers" into great "planovers" 😁👍 If everyone would learn that, food waste would sure relax.

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

Lids from WB canned jelly/jam/fruit, seal but don't get the "deep ditch" ring in the rubber. I've reused those for same. But meats in pressure canner for hr plus, nope, they're tossed. Deep depression in those.

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

Long day yesterday -- wrangled goats, trailer, loading & off to auction. 6am & finally home at 7pm. In bed at 8:30 -- and slept like a rock!! Coffee is so welcome this morning. Relaxing & enjoying. It'll be another outside day, just not as demanding as yesterday. Need to move trailer...

    What's for dinner?

Last night, fast chicken sandwich. Had some canned, left from a casserole, and got home at 7. Not cooking, just hungry!! I see another sandwich or two in that jar 🤔 All that canning time is paying off. Tonight? Will do a freezer snatch of something fast & something big to thaw. Home all...

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

🤣I have dozens of those lids...even when I open like jelly, I use the plastic screw on ones. When I'm milking I use glass jars with those lids. Warm milk goes in freezer for half hr to fast chill. The temp change actually forms a nice "seal" with those lids.

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

That's selfish and a shameful waste. I canned 5 more pints of cooked apples. Plus put 1.5 pint in a jar to eat now. Didn't save any out last time & it's been annoying me since😋. Wouldn't open a jar because I had these fresh still waiting to process. Self punishment!

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

Yes!! But I toss mine to the chickens. Saves feed money, soothes my whimpers. 😂 Today I need to process apples! Prob gonna fry, then WB in pint jars, like last batch. Love then for breakfast

    Are we living our dream?

Same here...learned life needs. Came from very limited financial background. You appreciate, you survive. My kids both learned chores, cooking, shopping, reusing. This shows our age :old

    Are we living our dream?

It's amazing how many do not cook meals, or really don't know how! Dynamics of "why" are huge. Gardens are extra work & some don't, won't, can't handle the process. I've been cooking since very young. Gardening & canning for many years. No need to spend much at grocers. Have had home...
