Thankfully, I've never had a desire to go to Chicago. Being a police officer is a hard job, it's even harder now. So many have quit, retired or transferred and with fewer new recruits coming up, it's going to get even harder.

You need to find out where you manure supplier gets his hay from. Most hay these days are sprayed with an Aminopyralid herbicide to control the weeds. It's getting to where no manure is safe to use in the garden unless you produce it yourself. I've gone back to using shavings in my nest boxes...

Love your garden! I used cinder/cement blocks for mine too. They were a pain to set up, but I don't have to worry about rot or termites destroying them. I used treated wood for my first raised beds. They lasted less than a year.

Just watched Mark on the news. He said we may get up to 7-8 more inches of rain for some areas in East Texas. We got 2 1/2 inches of rain and marble sized hail covered the ground this past Tuesday. My tomatoes came through ok, but it got some of my squash & green beans.
