2026 Resolutions

I'm not one to make resolutions, but my resolution this year is to make, and keep, at least a couple.

DH and I started on a healthier eating style several months ago. My first resolution this year is to continue with our healthy eating plan and for each of us to drop some more excess weight.

We also started some gentle exercises. We've slacked lately so my second resolution is to make sure that he and I do some type of formal exercise at least 3-4 times a week.

I've noticed that a theme of several folks has been to declutter - I join that group today. Already have a donation box set up. I'll start with clothes that are now (!!!) too large.

Anybody else?

I'm not a resolution person either. But I do intend to continue to declutter & organize. Still boxes from Mom's house we sold when she had to move here. She's been gone for years now & still in boxes!! Plus my own accumulations.

To be honest some can be burned! Paperwork she had boxed....no need for those bank statements & tax returns now. Always other things needed doing with my time -- but I'm gonna clear it out! Don't want kids to need to, 20 yrs from now.

It'll happen slowly but surely.

That's pretty much the way it is here too. I'd like my son not to have to deal with this stuff... Plus, it just needs to be done, lol.

i am definitely simplifying and getting rid of clutter and more to do for sure but making no promises or resolutions.

2025 was just not a great year for me which is why I think I have a lot of the same goals from last year, but number one I want to prioritize my mental and physical health more

Well I didn’t manage to get my 6 resolutions for 2025 done, so I guess my resolution for this year is to keep trying.

DH decided to move up his retirement from his 60th birthday in 2027 to the end of 2026. He figures no point waiting the couple extra months. Then he said we may as well start looking for our next place this year. So the declutterring and wrapping up chicken things have to be stepped up!

if I ever decide to quit a job, at least I don't also need to move...saves a lot of time & work!! Lucky me.

No thought of moving when we retired. I know DH would love it - but I'm not going anywhere.

you may want to mention to him that it is really better to use the vacation time instead of taking it as a lump sum because all the time he puts in on the job he would get benefits that otherwise are lost. i made that mistake when i left a previous job and it would have been worth quite a bit of $ with the retirement pay, soc-sec credits, plus health insurance for a few months, etc.

as one small example, the vacation pay i cashed in would have given me a few thousand more in retirement contributions which now all these years later has gone up 16 times.
