wow...thats really awful.

i know of a family who had a very troubled child - in fact some of the things he did caught the noticed of the FBI as indicators of a possible sociopath. the problem was that the parents were totally stuck - they could afford to have him institutionalized (which they realized he needed) and 'the system' wouldnt take him b/c no one would actually file charges against the kid for his criminal behavior. mostly people didnt want to get involved and i think a few people were afraid of him.

the problem was that as he got older, he got bigger/stronger, and the 'incidents' got worse. you might be helping them by filing a report - it sounds like that kid is messed up and the parents arent doing anything about it.

and like FC said - maybe they will move on.

What a horrible family to live next to.

Many people here have mentioned that the boy seems disturbed, but it seems to me that he is just following his parents example. I mean murdering someones chicken and leaving it's foot in thier mailbox is most definitely disturbed behavior but I would get CPS?CHS what ever you call it, involved. Those people should not be raising children! And as Aly said, call the police for sure. File charges!

So....what are you going to do next?

You know he might get in the most trouble for putting a chicken foot in the mailbox. Tampering with the US Mail is a FEDERAL offense.

You are describing a true sociopath... but get the terminology correct now. Under 18 = conduct disorder. Over 18 = sociopath. Difference = 0.

This kind of person is ESPECIALLY difficult to deal with. It is a CREATED mental problem #1 and #2 they truly have NO conscience. Do be careful. People like this DO NOT retaliate in kind. Send them a stink bomb and they might just as likely come over and stab you to death. Not trying to scare you - just inform. I worked with little dears like your neighbor boy for 10 years - 9 of those in a public Alternative school setting, where the public school system sent them to up hold the laws about children being provided education while housing them safely away from the other normal children.

Your best bet is document, document, document. The Berlin wall may also help.

Oh another idea. Most states have an online system for retrieving PUBLIC criminal records. In Missouri it is called Casenet.

You might do a little research into the adults in the household (criminal records for minors are locked and private). Might give you a little more of an idea about the adults that are parenting these kids and just WHAT it is you are dealing with.

If it is especially juicy stuff I would spread the word to all of the neighborhood as well. People have a right to know WHO they live next door to.

Wanda, that is simply insane. That you would be terrorized in your own home is unbelievable. I agree, you should file a report with Dept of human services and the police/sherrif's office. This boy has issues and needs serious help.

A fence with lots of yummy blackberry, dewberry & raspberry planted on the inside. And maybe an electric strand run just under the top edge of the fence. Just enough to give them a good pop. Mwhahahah. You can get the cameras that are tiny for fairly cheap. They run off batteries so you don't have to do any wiring. If you have a wireless card (or can get one) you can broadcast the video straight to your computer. Put them up after well after dark so no one sees you do it and don't tell ANYONE they are there. I'd stick one at the back of mailbox too. Or if you have plants around your mailbox, stick one in there. Document document document, write everything down. A flood of "On such & such day, Mr. Butthead entered my property uninvited." "On this day, he ran through my yard & scared my chickens." "On this day, he shot my husband with a pellet rifle." That type & amount of information will sway many judges.

You know the shame of it all.....you have to take time out of your personal life to combat and compile evidence against idiots. It shouldn't be that way ya know.

It just drives me insane a kid can get away with so much. I say a kid does that stuff----jail time for parents. Then we might see some discipline coming from the home vs. letting psycho kids go wild! UGH

you can hardly win---but that idea of electric fence with thorns along the fence is a great barrier..LOL

Wow, I really dont know what to say, that hasn't already been said. Fence, documentation, electric, cameras. And, ABOVE ALL....be carefull. Sounds like this kid would really do you some personal harm! I am so glad it was just a pellet gun, not something larger. Either way....keep calling the police. Keep them on speed dial....let those neighbors know...you wont stop until they are gone!

I have been shopping cameras all mornining. Think I have found a 4 camera security system that I can monitor and record from my computer at home and at work. Still reading up on it.
We are discussing a fence but it will have to be a do it yourself thing as I do not have the money to pay someone to put up a fence. So that will take some time but will be taking place.

I really do wish the day of the mail box incidence I had walked on down to the mail box and found the foot then. As it is now two days later, and the foot is trashed I really don't have anything but me saying it happened. Them shooting DH with the pellet gun is on record. And DH is getting POSTED NO TRESPASSING signs today.

Signs will be posted and the parents will recieve a certified letter informing them of the kids actions and that due to these actions it is their legal responsibility to see to it that their children are instructed to stay off our property. That in the pellet gun incident and the chicken foot in the mail box incident we chose not to press charges or pursue the issue however any future problems will be pursued and prosocuted to the fullest extent the law allows.

After they recieve our letter the ball is in their court and they can deal with their children any way they see fit but we will follow through on any legalities and press charges in the future. I do need to check and see what the penalties for trespassing on posted property is and include that in my letter.

We will begin working on a fence in the very near future but this is such a bad time of year for us with house insurance, car insurance all being due this month plus my mother is in what they call her GAP period with her medicare and her meds are costing us a small fortune. But there is only one more month of that. After the first of the year her meds will go back to being covered fully. So it may be January before I can even think about a fence.
