I'm going to look at and test drive this 454 6 pack 4 speed, whiplash making beast tomorrow. If everything checks out I'll most likely buy it. I already informed the CEO (wife). She wants a ride :)

My dad had one almost exactly like this when I was a kid. Its the first car I ever drove (with my dad in the sitting in the passenger seat).

I've been looking for one for many years, to give to my dad. Ain't it beautiful?

Well I didn't buy it. Very clean, nice paint job, very minor rust repairs with new sheet metal. But the engine has atleast two bad rods that I could tell by listening to it run with a long handled screwdriver up to my ear. It knocked something awful. Plus the oil smelt of gasoline so there is blow by somewhere most likely prison rings or maybe the valves or both... Basically, the engine needs a rebuild.

I didn't even take it for a test drive to check out anything else, because the owner was firm on $7,500. I don't have time to put a rebuilt engine in it nor do I want to drop two big piles of cash on it to make it right.

Oh well - keep looking I guess...

I have a little bit different taste in old vehicles (think K5 Blazer, Scout), but the ones we want are starting to get pricey too... Especially here, finding one that isn't rusted out is an issue...

Bummer but good call on not biting, hard to walk away when you've got an emotional investment in it.
Wow, a Scout. Memories of being out at 4am with my grandfather plowing snow. 11 years old. I miss him and that time together.

Make sure its not stolen. My ex boss bought a car years ago. When he went to register it, he found out it was stolen. He lost the car and the money he spent to buy it

Very nice! But - is it for you or for your dad?

And, I'm probably wrong - but I thought the 454 engine was a Chevrolet product....I thought the big Buick engine was a 455...?

That's awesome that you're doing that for your dad. I only asked about the engine because my ex was an engine builder and dealt with primarily GM products so the 454 engine is something I'm familiar with....

Your dad is gonna love it!
