@Beekissed, I know, it's beautiful isn't it? :) It looks so rich and there are tons of worms in it too. I think it's going to make a fantastic garden. Once I got it all cleaned up.

Well, this is how far I got today…. I spent a lot of time cutting plants back and my compost pile is getting huge now!

That's a lot of work to just be doing it with hand tools, so you are certainly building some sweatequity into that place. I'm thinking your landlord is sure thanking the Lord right now that he rented to someone like you. :pop

He looked very surprised and happy last time he came over, to see what I've done :) I think me saying I want to tame that backyard and put a garden in there probably helped me a lot in securing this rental, but I think he wasn't expecting me to be this serious about it! I'm just really happy to have all this space to grow stuff in and play with. I'm enjoying myself enormously.

Today's mission:

I seriously HATE nettles!!! (And I seriously need to pay attention too….) I got whacked in the face by one. :rant Ouch! Doesn't help that some of them are taller than I am and I'm not that short.

I'm afraid I did… I got hot and stupidly took my jacket off, leaving my arms bare… Need I say more? And another one got me in the face. But I got my revenge! I thoroughly enjoyed cutting and yanking those horrible things today.

Pics are today's progress, some of what I'm dealing with close up and the back so far:

It's still a mess, but the big jobs are nearly done. Next up is raking up the finer dry grasses, etc, cleaning up the neighbours' rubbish burning site properly and clearing that bit near the back where there is more sticks and some rubbish covered in brambles and grass.

FEM, there is a low stone wall to the left (in the last pic - not shown), then a high stone wall at the back and an open area that I'm slowly working my way to, to the right there and on the right along the side, there was a chicken wire fence that came down. Part of my mission now is to figure out boundaries and find fencing, if any remains…

Very good job and progress! Keep up the great work.
When the frustrations and stress get to be too much use whatever feelings you're feeling to help you clear all those weeds.
