Just pull the mulch back and insert your plants. I think you would enjoy the fall veggies. If nothing else, plant some green onions for winter munching. If you plant collards, they can live for 4-5 years, so put them somewhere you don't mind them living in forever.

I have a bagger -- sometimes great, sometimes a PITA !! Esp so if grass is wet OR if coarse weeds -- it hangs up in the chute. Also have a sweeper, often a better option, especially when land is flat like what you have there. Just a thought for when you buy.

They do help, overall.

My chickens love watermelon -- esp on hot, hot days. So, where else can you trade a melon with a hole or over ripe cukes for a doz eggs and free fertilizer???

You guys had a wonderful garden and harvest this year. I can't wait to see what next year's going to produce, now you've learned a few things and figured out what works for you over there.
