I have a friend who wants two chickens for eggs. I keep trying to tell her it's simple, but she doesn't believe me. I tell her: Buy a doghouse, put a good fence around it with a roof. Buy point-of-lay pullets. Put them together with shavings in the doghouse, and food and water in bowls. Viola! You will get eggs.
you never want just 2 hens
1st of all 2 isn't a flock & chickens are flock amimals
they will not be all that relaxed if you just get 2 (they are not dogs or cats)
also what if 1 dies??
the 2nd one will have no one to roost with & no one to try to stay warm with in the coop

good luck

I love all the great advice!
I have gone from 5 to 70 birds and know the name and personality of each. I enjoy a mixed flock and love being able to walk into my covered run.
I sell eggs and my customers love my colored eggs
I met local chicken people on face book and have gone to see their set ups. I like to trade for my birds, and learn as much as I can from each one I meet having chickens is fun and entertaining. Don't get bogged down by all the advise!
