Things have been crazy. Daddy spent some time in the hospital due to a UTI, but his doctor wanted a psych referal, so he was transfered to a behavior unit for 8 days....he wasn't happy. Well they diagnosed him with dementia and he somehow thinks he has only about 3 months to live. I did tell him that he could go several years with that and could even be happy and productive, provided he takes his meds, to which he told me he hopes I'm right.
Well, I happened to talk to a man I knew since childhood and after a while told him about our citrus delema. He wanted me to call his cousin, who runs a tug boat operation with 126 boats to their name. I sent her a message, but also asked my old friend to talk to her about my situation. Well they want 2 boxes of oranges 3X's a week. In other words 240Lbs of oranges a week. So the first day I am to deliver is Monday and I went to the orchard to harvest. SOMEBODY WIPED US OUT!!! I had only one tree with about 30 oranges in it. So I had to go in my parent's front yard to get Monday's order ready. I think the most I'll be able to do is 2 weeks worth of oranges. That really sucks. But I'll talk to the grocery manager at the office and explain what happened and make sure I stay on good terms with the company, so I have my foot in the door come next fall when the satsumas are ripe. If I give him a heads up, so he can order what he needs before I tell him sorry AJ...thats it, then at least I don't leave them in a bind. I'm lucky I at least have a few trees to fall back on. Hope it works out because if I can do business in the fall, I'm sure Daddy would be happy.....all him and Momma's hard work will be rewarding us.
